Side mount EOC? Block off front Z06 screens?
With a Hurricane intake from WCC, I see no purpose for the screens in the nose of my C5Z, other than to possibly feed a side mounted EOC. I'd still only need a portion of one screen to feed an oil cooler though. There appears to be enough room if you stand it up against the fender, it'd just need some ducting. The real question I have is where to exhaust it without inducing any more lift. Early 90s Japanese sports cars with factory turbochargers had side-mounted intercooler installed in front of the fender and there were downward facing vents to exhaust the intercooler. It's my understanding that the rotation of the tire created a low pressure area to pull air out of the intercooler. These cars, however, didn't have brake ducts pressurizing the wheel wells. Would this then work or not? My goal is to not preheat the radiator and AC with hot oil cooler air to maximize overall cooling.
I do feel the need to reiterate plugging the screens as I feel that question may have been buried. At this point, I feel it's just letting unnecessary air under the hood of the car and creating unnecessary lift. Is this the case?

After a bit more deliberating, I think I want to stick a cooler behind the license plate hole like the coolers Pfadt used to make and Breathless currently makes (and charges out the *** for). It's a lot less elaborate and uses airflow separate from the radiator. I could still plug the screens to offset the increase in airflow that the oil cooler would introduce, and I could still plug the cooler and you'd never know it was there when I'm not at the track. I've never had the nose off before, but I know there's a steel frame beam running across there and I think a chunk of bumper foam. Is there enough room to squeeze the cooler in there with a gap between the nose cone and the frame? Pinned against the cone wouldn't allow air to flow through the whole core and pinned to the frame might not adequately exhaust.

For the life of me, I've tried googling and can't find what the non-Z06 car had in place of screens. I know they had foglights, but I don't know if they were optional, I don't know if they still allowed air in, or what. I'm hoping there's a factory part out there that seals the bumper off completely, unless there's a compelling reason not to. Again, my CAI draws from the radiator shroud, so that's not a factor here.

Standard C5 had a shield/insert there that did not let air in. There are a lot of options available like using them for extra cooling of radiator, intercooler,, etc. It is a low pressure area as I recall and the faster you go the lower the amount of air entering.

How does it cool the radiator when it's shrouded? Where can I find these standard parts?

Hard to see but this is what I had done to that frontal area on a 99 FRC. Sealed the bottom to the front wheels and boxed in front with sheetmetal while opening up the front.

It cools very well. I went a bit extreme and rerouted the air intake and laid the radiator about 40 degrees to the front and cut the hood open with a gurney flap on the leading edge. I think (though I know my opinion isn't based on knowledge ) your suspicion about the openings creating lift is accurate.

OP I was just about to go looking for some ZO6 screens for my car. I have a SC car that I play at the track with so had to open up that area for more airflow.
If you're interested I'll buy your screens, or trade you for my stock block of plates.........
Let me know.

I'm working from a different office this week so I'll have to wait a few days to send you pics of mine. I'll see if I can find anything online as well.
There's a few examples in this link.

I think the non-Z06's get these:
http://www.amazon.com/1997-2004-Corv...ette+deflector
I'd guess it is items 12 and 17 in this exploded view:
http://store.gmpartshouse.com/parts/...iagram=CF97005
I'm guessing item 17 is a plug for cars without fog lights.

Those guys must be installed in a recessed position, which explains why it looks like there's nothing there. That's extremely helpful, thank you. I wonder if I can install (coerce) both those and the screens at the same time, or if they'd fight each other too much. I'm not so sure I'm sold on the empty look, but definitely am on the function.
