Default Hydraulic Floor Jacks - Where To Buy?

Time to replace my aging floor jack. It has a 5" minimum height, but I'd like something with more clearance.

I found three models:
1. Lincoln W93642 3-3/4" min height $199 @ http://www.northerntool.com/
2. Omega $158 @ http://www.mytoolstore.com/
3. Astro $128 @ http://www.mytoolstore.com/

Shipping about $50, due to weight.

Seems a local purchase would be better. Any National chains that would carry something like this? I checked out a few stores today and 5" min height was the best I found.

I no longer have a pic of this heavy duty jack, but I bought it for $389, and it has a 1 3/4" height clearance back to 6" from the nose!! It will fit under my lowered car even with the stupid Corvette adapter! It weighs almost 100 pounds, so is barely transportable, but works great in the garage:

Harbor Freight has an aluminum floor jack for around $200; looks like a great deal. Not sure about clearance requirements, thought.

(Later) Here it is: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=47246

$199, weighs in at 38 pounds. That's a GREAT deal.

Our CostCo only carried one jack. Big, great price, but 5" min height.

Has anyone actually seen the Harbor Freight jack? It seems like a good deal, but then again I have a bit of a cautious approach with Harbor Freight stuff. I think they are great to order some stuff from, but normally, you get what you pay for... Just my opinion.

Here's another source for a reasonably priced aluminum floor jack:

2many:
I bought mine at Sears. It's 10 ton with about a 18" height. As I recall, I paid $99 due to a big tool sale (which Sears has quarterly. If you use a jack professionally, I'd go with the real deal, but if you're a hobbiest like me, the Craftsman fits the bill and there's no delivery charge! Cire96

cire96,
I checked their website and the minimum heights were 5" or more.

In any case, I ordered one (posted above). Thanks.

I bought the 2ton Harbor Freight jack. ~$30.00 ~3.5" height, weighs about 25lbs. All it's got to do is lift the car high enough to get the stands under it. I don't understand the need for a $200 jack. I don't intend on doing 14sec. pit stops.
