In my opinion, UNLESS you are racing to the requirements of a series or club, you would be better off (more efficient use of your money) buying a C5 Z06 for track days (either fully prepared/caged or street car) because of lower initial price, lower cost consumables, and better reliability. I would look at one of the used T1 cars that are for sale on the Phoenix Racing web site (nope, I'm not connected in any way).

I don't totally agree with the statement about the C5 being a better or less expensive for consummables platform. I know someone who has 15,000 track miles on a base z51 c6 and has only replaced pads, rotors and wheel bearings (and the wheel bearing were replaced under warranty I might add).
C6 rotors including z06 ones are under $100 bucks now...and there are tons of pad options.
The only C6 expensive on consummables is the the ZR1 due to special Brembo pads at $900 a set and the lack of tire options for $2,500 a set. The carbon aero package is expensive to replace broken pieces too.
The C6 Grand Sport is about the best track car off the showroom floor for the money and performance it provides.
Not to mention the C5's look pretty dated next to a C6 if we want to be a little shallow

Far and away the best deal going for a race car and certainly the best out there for a C6. A few wins and a track record. Easy to drive very quickly.
