ALMS Pit Stops
Am I the only one that finds it very painful to watch these cars pit? I know they are trying to be "safety conscience", but IMO it kinda sucks (along with the coverage).
An excellent stop with 4 tires and fuel at the same time is a thing of beauty...... wish they had it.

Yep it's painful. It's for safety and cost. Quality pit crews are expensive. The old days when it was your standard mechanics or volunteers over the wall are pretty much done, when victory is a matter of 1/10ths of a second. The style of pit stop levels the field.

Personally I like it. Makes it more orchestrated instead of just fuel/wrench/drop and go. You need to plan ahead, practice, and make it part of the track day strategy.

I really enjoy an ALMS pitstop. Its much less hectic with two separate transactions going on, as opposed to trying to fuel in that 10 second window too.
The Rolex pitstops are nice too, as fuel takes the longest, so you are not killing yourself to get the work done.
ALMS was 10 seconds of brutal go go go after the fuel was done. Very orchestrated.
Rolex was 40-45 seconds of a slower pace go go, yet still very orchestrated.
As far as hired guns, majority of the guys are regular team members. For the most part, its not hired guns running the pitstops in ALMS. Sorry to the vette team, but half of those tire changers are well into their 40s and 50s.
