Default A Closer Look: Pfadt Heavy Duty Sway Bar Packages

Pfadt Racing Corvette Heavy Duty Sway Bars are designed to bring you the best performing off the shelf sway bar solution on the market today by combining light weight construction with flexibility and durability. By reducing body roll with sway bars your Corvette will corner flatter, improve turn in response and with the adjustable front and rear bars you can influence the balance of the car based on your personal preferences. We have both a Heavy Rate and Light Rate sway bar package that will bolt directly up whether you have a C5 or C6, and will work very well without modification even if you have factory F45 or F55 Magnetic ride shocks.

All of our Heavy Duty bar packages feature lightweight 3 piece bar construction using a 4130 Chromolly center bar section with ultra lightweight 7050-T7 aluminum arms. Each arm features 3 holes of adjustment for stiffness on both the front and rear bars and by adjusting the front to rear sway bar bias you have a very effective way to control the balance of your Corvette. The factory sway bar packages are typically very heavily rear bar biased which contributes to the tendency for the car to oversteer. Our sway bar tuning philosophy revolves around a healthy increase in front bar stiffness to improve turn in response, with slightly softer rear bar than the front to make the car much more neutral when pushed to the limits. The result when properly tuned is a Corvette that's very well balanced and easier to drive at the limit without worrying too much about the rear end coming around. Take a look at the sway bar comparison chart below, you can see that the factory bar packages are typically stiffer in the rear than the front. With some strategic changes with adjustable sway bars you can end up with a sway bar package that complements the car, track, and your driving style.

Heavy Duty sway bars also need to include a heavy duty supporting cast. Extremely strong and lightweight hiem joint endlinks are included with all of the Heavy Duty sway bar kits. The endlinks now include a custom machined and hardened stud which swages into your lower control arm for a very secure and noise free mounting solution with no drilling or custom fitting required. The turnbuckle style endlink assembly makes corner balancing your car a snap as you do not need to disassemble the endlink to adjust endlink length, this can save you a lot of time during your initial setup! Polyurethane bushings are included in the kits for reduced deflection and improved performance versus the factory rubber. Also included is our preferred polyurethane lubricant which is extremely tacky and resists breakdown to water and other road contaminants. This lubricant is great at keeping your sway bars whisper quiet for street use. For dedicated race cars we also have machined pillow blocks available to hard mount the sway bar to the chassis for maximum sway bar effectiveness.

After installing one of our Heavy Duty bar packages you can start reaping the benefits of an easily adjustable bar package on the street and track, but which package is right for you? Take a look below.

Heavy Duty - Light Rate Sways: Perfectly suited for rougher tracks, autox, or where ever compliance from your suspension is very important. These goals make the Light Rates extremely effective for street use. The Light Rates will increase the roll stiffness all around without significantly impacting ride quality or being too stiff for choppy road surfaces.

Heavy Duty - Heavy Rate Sways: Built with competition use in mind. With the large amount of mechanical grip that your Corvette will generate when used with race tires it's best to run a stiff sway bar package to keep the body roll in check. Our Heavy Rate Bars are the stiffest bar package we offer, and they have a massive amount of flexibility built into them. Whether you're running the car occasionally on the street with street tires, you're on a Hoosier R compound or even on full on Slick the Heavy Rates will allow you to dial in exactly the roll stiffness you need to put you ahead of the competition.

Whether you're driving the car on the street, doing hard canyon runs, or barreling down your favorite road course we've got a Heavy Duty sway bar package for you! If you have any questions about installation please take a look at our install guide here: Pfadt Race Engineering Heavy Duty Sway Bar Installation Guide.
