Default Renting a Tow Vehicle?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of renting a truck to tow a trailer. Typically, it's the other way around.

I had to drive through some water with my F-250 and some relays got wet and shorted and melted a harness to my transfer case. I replaced theharness, but it's stuck in 4 Low. I never even put it in 4WD to begin with, so I'm at a loss on what to do with it now. I highly doubt I can get it fixed before Friday and I have an event at Summit Point.

Anyone in the SE VA area know where I can rent a truck? I'm low on cash, but have a CC or various fabrication abilities with a pipe bender and a welder if someone wants to offer up their truck. It would be from Friday morning until Monday evening.

Give UHaul a call. Their smaller trucks are capable of hauling an open trailer. The larger ones will be good for an enclosed.

Try a work truck rental place. We have Capps in Texas I don't think they are in your area though. I heard there are others that rent heavy duty trucks for construction.

Two years ago on my way to a NASA race my 6.0 powerstroke left me stranded. I rented a Tahoe from the nearest airport & made it to the track. BTW towing a 30 foot enclosed 9k lbs is not fun!

A guy near me rents a 3/4 ton from Hertz to tow his trailer to and from track days. Actually not a bad deal if that's all you use your truck for.

Thanks for all the info here. Looks like it's time to make some phone calls.

Rent my GMC yukon 1500. I'd let you tow up to 7000 lbs. brake controller included.

The only concern with U-Haul is that their trucks may not have electric trailer brake controllers. Most larger U-Haul trailers use a surge brake system so there would be no need for a controller.

Hertz, Penske, Ryder, or local equipment rental places would be a good alternative.
