Cooling Help Needed
I have a 2002 Z06 that is stock other than CAI and Headers. I do HPDEs in Dallas and have been hitting oil temps around 280 before backing off. Any cooling suggestions? Do I need a coolers for water, oil, transmission, and differential? Any cooling solution recommendations?
Thank you,
Chris

Oil cooler definately.
What water temps are you seeing? If you're hitting 220 you may need a better radiator like Dewitt. Make sure your radiator is sealed to the shrouds well, to avoid air leaks.
Keep in mind that the oil cooler will reduce some airflow through the radiator, and might push water temp up a few degrees.
Running a 160 t-stat won't reduce ultimate temp, but it may take a few more minutes to get there if you are starting out cooler.

You can save some money by doing the oil cooler kit yourself. The pkg ones are nice but you pay more for it. There are plenty of diy threads to help. I thought doing the hose ends would be the hardest part, but they are not. Now getting that adapter mounted on the block - that was hard. I have a built LS2 so I have the 40 row Setrab - works great.

I was over 290* a couple weeks ago at Road America so I know how you feel. I think I am going to ho the radiator oil cooler combo since I still drive mine off the track and take vacations in the mountains where temps drop, I don't want to over-cool it on the street. Something to consider.

I don't know how serious the original poster is about going fast...if he gets faster, the standalone oil cooler is best. Otherwise, the DeWitts is adequate, though realize that the associated oil takeoff block is a pain to install. You do mention a good point - he will need one of these:

I used to just put cardboard over my 34 row cooler and that didn't work too well (135deg temps). With the Earl's I am at 180 on the highway.

I use this thermostat/adapter and have no issues hit 180-190 on the street:

in conjunction with DRM stand alone oil cooler:

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to start with the DRM cooler and thermostat and then watch my water temp and look out for the transmission temp warning. Going to read through a few installs before deciding whether to do it myself. I'm not too worried about low temps on the street as its not my daily driver.

What he said...call Randy and be done with it. I am cheap, so on the street i wrap the oil cooler in Saran Wrap, oil temp gets to about 180.
On the track, beating on the car pretty hard, I can see 245* on a hot sunny day at The Glen. One cool down lap and it is typically down to 200-205 by the time I get to the garage.
I also have a large Ron Davis radiator from DRM.
