Any ideas for keeping a C5 movable/rolling with the engine out?
Any clever ideas on how to support the torque tube so I can roll this stupid car out into the driveway after I pull the engine? I have another car to finish.
I was thinking a ratchet strap accross the front frame slots might work? Or something like that?
Thanks,
Brian

I plan on it... but that doesn't solve my current space/logistics issues with two broken race car projects. I need to get my engine out so I can get it rebuilt and then get the car out of the way so I can get the Panoz chassis back in the garage to finish the welding. 2 car garage = working on one at a time. I don't want to tie up the space for 2 weeks while the LS6 is rebuilt and I don't want to put the Corvette completely on the back burner until the Panoz is completed.
Can you elaborate? I assume you mean the bellhousing clutch inspection cover? How is that going to support anything? I'm going to be pulling the engine/clutch/belhousing out the top.
Wait... do you mean the tunnel plate? So it's OK to let it rest on there while I roll the car out of the garage?

No... it looks like this....
I have to make room to get the cherry picker in front of the car. Goal is to have it out this weekend. This is quickly becoming not fun anymore.
Going to yank engine, take to shop, put Corvette back in the driveway and get back to work on the Panoz in hopes I can have it done for RA in December. If I get my car done too then great, if not I'll come crew for my dad's first outing in the "new" Panoz.

I have the GM Kent-moore tool for supporting the TT when either the motor or tranny is pulled. It is just a u shaped piece of flat stock that bolt into the holes for the tunnel cover

I have used a 2x4 cut the width of the tunnel with opposite corners cut at an angle, go in at a 45 degree angle then rotate to 90 degrees of the tunnel and let torque tube rest on it

I pulled mine from the top as well. If you still have the tunnel plate in when removing you can support the torque tube by placing a small piece of wood or screwdriver end in between the torque tube and tunnel plate. That tool would be ideal to have but if you are pressed for time, my method will work.
What are you going to use to place your car on to roll it out?
