There's been a report that he signed a "pre contract" with them for well over a year. It got mentioned again this morning on Speed's FP2 broadcast. Lots of silly season stuff this year so until Hamilton and Schumi are decided there will be lots of talk.

Unless this is a new report...

Not officially, Ferrari has let it's 2013 option on Massa's contract expire, however

Hehe, now to see if Alonso can handle an equally talented teammate this time around.

He has as much talent, but Alonso is driving the best of anyone on the grid, for the last two years. He has gotten more than what the car he has is capable of.

However, he has not done well with a talented teammate before, if he implodes like he did last time, it won't be good.

I love hearing the Alonso excuses. He was clearly the number one driver entering the season as Lewis was content hanging behind him and fighting off the Ferrari's most of his first few races. Lewis didn't even win a race until the 6th race, just finishing on the podium consistently. There was no bias there, just more consistency. Ron Dennis prodigy or not, they wouldn't have expected a Rookie to have the best start to a rookie season ever and be dominating the championship mid season like he did. Absolutely nothing went wrong for him.

The only drama at McLaren was caused by Alonso, blackmail, snitching, and just plain being a whiny punk as soon as he saw that his teammate had just as much talent in the same car.

Ferrari has coveted Vettel for a long time, and there is absolutely NO WAY he'll be going there to play second fiddle. So you could kind of say it would be 07 for Alonso all over again. Let's see if he can handle a teammate that can beat him on a weakly basis without becoming a whiny little snitch again. Massa just isn't the same guy, and understandably so. Vettel will certainly put far more pressure on Alonso.

I agree with pretty much all of this. Once Lewis figured out that he was faster than Alonso in the same car it was game on and there are pics of Dennis reassuring Alonso (as early as Turkey '07 I believe) that nothing was out of order once he started getting beat up by Hamilton. That said I wouldn't trust Ferrari as far as I could throw the collective bunch of em after the Schumacher fiasco. Alonso needs a Massa who will "take care of his tires" or "save fuel" on call not a racer with a strong desire to win and killer instinct, neither of which Massa has. You can go ahead and add wet driving skills to that list of things Massa is missing. As far as Vettle is concerned I'm still not "drinking the coolaid". His success has been largely due to having the right machinery and a stint at Ferrari would likely highlight that fact, especially if he's teamed with Alonso.
