Default Stock fender protection for big tires?

I came up with this:

but I was thinking something tougher would be a little better like kevlar?

Any suggestions, should be tough but flexible to wrap around.

A tire doing 150 mph is hard to stop from rubbing the fender and if you do find something it will remove material from your tire.

I had to cut my fenders up 3/4" because the tires started the process.

Hi John,

This is just for lower speed autox, I would not run tires outside the fenders on track. It's brief rubs during hard transitions. The car is pretty hard sprung & big bars but it touches when the (parking lot) course goes thru dips/ditches, something we just have to deal with at the venue.

If I put in a layer of kevlar wouldn't that be tougher than the layers of alum tape?

I have seen kevlar for sale online. Pretty expensive & I guess you need special scissors to cut it?

Anyone ever use it?

I know if I hit hard it'll just break the fender, but all I have got so far is rubs.

Our lot at Auto Club Speedway is getting real bumpy. My shocks are linear valved which helps a lot. The faster the shock piston moves, the stiffer it gets.

Not to get off track on my own thread, but what's a good double adjust shock these days, pick 2 or more.

I would go with Penske. Guy Ankeny is just 30 miles away and can rebuild, re-valve them anytime for us. Were running them in the SS Corvette. These shocks are digressive valved. Which is great for a car with more travel. He can valve it digressive or linear. What other shocks are there? Moton=$$ Pfadt, take off the coil springs. ??=$$. Seems like Penske is far more popular for a good reason.
