Video -- on track footage of F1 track in Austin
I was in Texas this past week on business and was fortunate to arrange a private tour (I have close ties to the owners) of not only on the track, but the entire facility.
The conference rooms, race control, celebratory space, winner's circle, heck, too much to list here...all of it is state of the art.
There are 1000 workers per day (no exaggeration) all collaborating in what will be a bucket list destination to see, let alone someday drive on. Name a piece of construction equipment, it's there.
The pictures posted to date don't convey the monstrosity this facility really is. The elevation going into T1 is incredible. Without the proper down-force they would take flight as the car is definitely light at the top.
Here is some on track footage (at a snail's pace) taken from an iPhone.
There were too many work vehicles on track to make a full lap with the proper line and commentary but figured some footage is better than nothing. We entered mid track so I was lost on what turns we were in being the first time on it.
I'll be at the race and hope to see many of you there!
Mike

I've been out there a bunch of times since the announcement and the progress they have made recently is phenominal!
See you at the race, I might bring my T1 car.....just in case.

That would be nice. Let's touch base about this when the race approaches.

I'll be there to watch the F1 race and please keep us updated on a track day there. I will go in a heartbeat with my ZR1 for the first available track day.

Great, another track for me to drive the Mosler -- Flat out!
Jim,
I think there was a bulldozer who was a few tenths quicker.
That's always fifty-fifty.

Lainey and I will be there!!! Arriving Thursday night and not leaving until Tuesday morning. We're staying with Aaron & Robbin Pfadt, Andrew Aquilante and guest, and our buddy Jim Thompson and guest. We're sitting in T11. That looks like a great spot with views of the cars braking hard into the turn and coming out under hard acceleration. It should be a great overtaking opportunity for late braking!!!
Thanks for posting this up, Mike. It's going to great to be there for the first running of the USGP on the Circuit of The Americas!!!
