Default Got the battery relocated..

After having it come loose at VIR in July and resting up against the exhaust manifold, I decided to move it to the rear of the car.

Here's what it looks like now:

You need to cover up the positive terminal, but you know that. I am always worried about the battery and the wires, but my trunk gets pretty busy after the event. Some high quality loom and locating clamps (like from McMaster) might save a headache.

After a track event your trunk looks like you're moving.

I'll be tidying it all up over the next couple of weeks.

I've left room at the top for the Cool Shirt cooler.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I made a protope aluminum box that fits in the right rear storage compartment. The box itself fits flush up against the front/rear walls of the compartment and will be bolted through the tub. The prototype will not be used because I've come up with a different hold down setup and the new box is made of thicker material and simply much nicer.
Here is the prototype:

Here is what I have so far for the new box:

Hi,
Thats a clean setup.
What kind of little battery is that? I'm sure its a lot lighter than a standard
battery. How well would it hold up for street use?

Thanks

Mine is an odyssey 925. It's never been a problem mounted in the stock location as far as street use. Rear mounted with 1 guage cable it should be fine. I will know once I get some time to finish up the install. The reserve capacity is a little less than a larger size battery so if one were to leave the lights or something similar on it would drain much faster.
The battery above mine is an optima. I have rear mounted those multiple times on various cars and they work well.
In my case I already had the odyssey so I simply made the box to fit it. It's not something most auto parts stores carry in stock, but easy enough to get in a day from summit that I am not limiting myself by building the box to only fit that battery.
