C4 front air dam and splitter rebuild.
Its the end of the season and I'm taking my C4 front nose air dam setup apart and rebuilding it for next year. There was a thread going here with some pics and information that I can't find. I want to go downward off the leading edge of the front bumper cover and use the black polycarbonite material ( black bendable plastic sheeting). Can't remember what its actually called and where I can get a sheet of it. Any info help appreciated.

That bottom half is what I'll be doing. I already have it in metal but it looks pretty nasty so I'm re doing it. The stuff I need is ABS plastic, 1/16 inch. Found it at a plastics place where I live. Bendable, strong, moldable, cheap. 27 bucks a sheet.

@OP Speedway Motors sells the flexible rolls of "plastic" if you want to make one yourself.
Here's another example of a not so cheap way to do it....**My hood pins aren't in so don't ding me for it being out of whack.

Plus that guy can drive...
The intent was to also put side skirts on the car. With just the nose, the air I'm blocking in the front is probably just coming in from behind the front tires and minimizing the effect of the nose. My intent was to finish the project and see how much it helped, but now NASA has changed my aero rules so I will most likely go back to a stock nose
I'd say the biggest advantage was simply the fact that I made it easy on and off with a few pins. Plus, the front breathing certainly helped my water temps.

Here is everybody at Miller Motorsports Park favorite Corvette. C4 built by a father and son team Jeff and James Miller, this thing has been putting the hurt on 997 Porsche Cup cars all summer in STU. Fondly called Swamp Thing Runs in the 130:xx on scrubs on the west track this is fast!

Canam,
The link below is to the thread “Looking for C4 wing and splitter” which will be helpful. See post #4 for what you described.

I have built what I think is exactly what you are talking about, but I now have the nose shown in the post by DJFIN. I strongly recommend you go in that direction or a nose like Matt (mrc24x) has in his post.

Here is the thread with the info on mine:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...-race-car.html
It wasn't cheap. I have ~$1300 in it with the undertray, brake ducts, etc.
NASA has changed the rules to allow extra hp for cars without an aero package so my front end an APR carbon fiber wing will probably be for sale.
PM me if interested.

thanks DJFIN. I considered that nose piece as simple and very effective, however, its pretty expensive and I'm staying build on a budget. I'm on my way to building a "scary fast" dam right now. Mine should look a lot like his and I'm using 1/8 inch ABS sheet and all existing hardware from my previous nose piece I just took off. Total cost should be about 50 dollars.
Boy, this thread really took off.

Of all the aero combos I've seen on C4's, yours is the nicest...ya, I know, chick thing to say but I still think that not only does it need to go fast, it needs to look going doing it
I was on a mission a few years ago to work on aero and exchanged emails with eogel. Went off in a different direction but now I'm thinking again...

and in with the new. Air box had to be extended on both sides and the bottom. Using existing home made mounting rails, they were moved outward also.
