Default VIR in November - weather?

Looking at possible HPDE at VIR in November. A little concerned about the weather in Alton during that time of year. I know there are no guarantees, but does anyone have experience with the general weather pattern in the area? It's a bit of a haul for me and didn't want to commit if I'm looking at a 70% chance of bad weather.

Thanks.

That's a tricky time of year. You could get anything from a freak snowfall to 65 and sunny, T-shirt and shorts weather. Usually daytime temps are 50-55. A bonus is that, on average, November and December are the driest months of the year around here.

Have been to VIR the past 4/5 years in November. Don't recall any wet
weather but the temps do have a mind of there own. Hope to be there this November if I can find tires. Now that I have posted this, it will probably rain/snow.

Other than some risk of cold mornings, that is probably a lower weather risk time of the year.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out as the date gets closer and hopefully the event won't fill up before I'm ready to pull the trigger.

VIR is one of my bucket list tracks and I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to get down there again anytime soon.

Even the first two weekends in Dec are fine. Jan and early Feb can be iffy.

I have done events NASA Mid Fed, and snow flying across the hood, but nothing on the ground or track.

We plan to go again in November with Trackdaze. The last few times the weather has been nice. Chilly mornings but comfortable afternoons has been what we experienced.

I have been there the past 2 years mid to late Nov with no issues other than the cold mornings. 2 years ago, it was 23* during the first session. Hands got so cold, I had to come in after 4 laps and put my Mechanix gloves on. Bought a better set of driving gloves when the store opened. Gave them to my wife to wrap and give me for Christmas. If I can get my valve springs back in, I will be there for the Trackdaze event. If all good after that, then off to Daytona.

Hi All, my first post as have just joined your forum.

I instruct at VIR and am there most every month. Nov if no rain is usually cool in the mornings and evenings, but nice mid day if sunny. I will be there instructing with the Audi club, and may stay over for Track Daze. Carolina PCA is also on my list.

Audi event will be my second event on track with my new toy, a 2010 Z06 which I pick up next week. Anybody going look for me, nbr 911, Red, and most likely paddocked near pit out.

I'll be there at the Trackdaze event on Nov 12-13. This event runs the Full course on the 12th and the Grand course on the 13th.

That will be my last event of the year.

I went in Dec of '10 and it snowed. They didnt pull us off track until it was snowing heavily. Then the nect day it stopped but there was snow in the grass and we were on track. That was weird and fun.

I've been to the TrackDaze Nov event the past two years and going again this year. '11 was beautiful - it threatened rain on day 2 but never materialized. '10 was not quite as nice, bit of rain in the AM of day 2.

Great. Thanks all for the feedback. Might see you all at the Trackdaze event for my first time getting the GS on a road course (several autocrosses, but no track time yet).

Been on several different tracks around the country with my '96 LT4, but VIR has always been on my must-drive list.

I just noticed the 12th was a holiday. I might bring my lid and see if I can bum a few ridealongs.

Sorry to miss those of you who will be at TrackDaze. I usually participate and instruct for them, but I will be instructing for Audi Sat. and Sun, and cannot stay over. If you arrive early on Sunday, look for me, nbr 911, Crystal Red, paddocked near pit out (most likely). I sure have a lot of questions on how to set up my Z06, including how and where to get a trailer and hitch for the Z06 to transport tires, etc.

No promises, I have a couple of students, but look me up. #99, black C6Z.
