Removing C6Z torque tube snap ring
Getting ready to replace my bellhousing and driveshaft with the help of some friends. I'm told that the snap ring on the torque tube is really big and real pain to get off. Does anyone know what tool I need to remove this and even better have a link to buy one? Thanks.

Thanks but are you sure those will work on a C6Z? I'm told that the ring on the transmission end of the torque tube is ~8" at rest with a +2" spread at rest.

It is a pretty big snap ring.
These are pretty much the Pliers I use. And they barely do the trick.

The snap ring will have to be collapsed or pulled together to release it from its position. Those pliers are good for both directions. Pulling and spreading and also lock.

I use large needle nose Pliers bent at the end slightly. Not too difficult.
Also remember, it's a one way snap ring, there is a chamfer on one side. Take note, it only goes in one way

That's the one I use too - it may not look it in the picture but that thing is over 18" long and it holds the snap-ring as you install it - vs a needle nose or standard snap ring plyers that you will have to sqeeze and hold to install.
I'm a big believer in having the correct tool for the job and this is exactly what the doctor ordered for that big a$$ snap ring!

I used those giant snap ring pliers along with a flat head screwdriver. The screwdriver, if slid behind the snap ring and into the groove, will prevent the snap ring from sliding back into its groove if the pliers let go. Just be careful not to damage the snap ring groove.
