I have Gary's T1 brake kit (Hardbar) front and rear, and some time ago Gary and I started talking about going even bigger on the front simply because I can! Note, I did not really need more brake performance and several pros who drove the car can attest to that, but you know how we all are and what the heck, I like to spend money I don't have....

These are AP Sprint Cup calipers and they are actually designed for the T1 rotors which are awesome rotors indeed.

The prototype brackets are not quite right and will need to be changed in several dimensions to fully optimize the fit, but here are a few test pics;





Gary has been helping me with dimensions and he sent me one of his own prototype brackets to help me come up with my 1st set of dimensions.

I should also thank Jeff and Daniel at Essex for their help with the pads and some of the hardware.

When everyone thinks about brakes, everybody drools over the F1 hardware. But really, the racing series that is the most brutal on brakes is the Sprint Cup series. These cars all have close to 900HP and 3600 pounds so the braking requirements are as severe as possible . They also have 15 inch wheels, so the 12.81 inch diameter rotor, and caliper systems have received many millions of dollars and hours of development, because that is as big as you can get in a 15 inch wheel. This system Everett has is essentially unlimited.

What kind of tires are you going to run to get the most out of this setup, juicy fruit or hubba bubba?

If you've got that kind of money that you don't have I know an aspiring driver that needs a cage and some Hoosiers...and an EOC. ...help the cause, man!

That is a nice brake setup. I think those pads are thicker than the rear tire on my Harley.

I told Mike just today (Short-throw) that my new brakes are ALMOST as big as the brakes on The Beast.

We are getting to the point where you have unlimited brakes for XX hours. It is like gas mileage, the pads are 28mm thick, you use 2mm (for example) per hour at XYZ track, so it will last so long between pad changes. Fade, or consistency is never an issue.

Looks great -- like every other mod we've tested, I will have to personally thrash the Mosler to verify this latest. I'm thinking Superman braking into T1 at COTA at the 500ft mark. (Don't worry, there's plenty of run-off.)

How many mms thick are the pads in there now?

I figured you would choose to do the thrashing either at COTA or RA (T5 for braking and the kink for insanity....).

These pads are either 25mm or 28, can't recall at the moment.

So did you just find some sprint cup take-offs or use new calipers??

Arrgghh I want big brakes for my C4 sooo bad - just can't seem to come up with the mega-bucks

Speaking of ludicrous brakes what do you use for ABS in that monster? I gotta think a ludicrous brake project isn't complete until it has a Bosch racing or maybe BMW racing ABS controller running standalone to replace the factory EBCM crap no?

No ABS (or traction control) - this is a Man's car.

Just kidding, in fact when Mike is not looking I plan on grabbing his Motec unit and ABS hardware.
