I need some more headroom
I'm needing a bit more headroom in the C5 coupe with helmet on.
How much additional can be gained by removing the headliner and padding near the hoop ?

Headliner removal--1+inch and custom seat mount on floor will definitely add more head room. I am 6'2" and needed extra room.

Not thrilled about performing the surgery on the liner / ceiling padding needed to get this Xtra clearance on my street / track car - but I really need it.
The problem area is limited to the overhead hoop area where the ceiling / underside of the cabin roof drops down that inch or so. Has anyone removed the padding in this limited area to get more helmet clearance ? how difficult can it be ?

that photo is a big help. Thanks for posting. Looks like it would be easiest to simply remove the entire liner intact..rather than cut it up. Might even be able to re-install later that way.
