I meant to see a 996 CUP having a strong body work has rebuilt.
Is that correct?
What the cost is highly dependent on what is installed underneath.
A well-preserved 996Cup traded with us for about 60-80000 U.S. vary by state.

I run with a lot of these here in Florida. They're stupid fast. The guys that have the sequential boxes are beyond stupid fast.
A friend of mine brokers a lot of these cars. The good part is they're so well built that every owner feels like superman in the car. They generally aren't even close to the potential but they feel like they are.
Things can get expensive real fast though. That's the downside.

That 450K is just the entry price. At most of the track days here in Florida these guys bring a professional crew with them. This is factory stuff. You're not going to be this fast with something your built in your 2-car garage. Trust me.

That's what I'm saying, it would take a lemans corvette or viper to beat one of these. This guy in particular has the Hallett race track team that comes along to all of his PCA races.

Just Sayin': A good used Tony Ave Trans Am Corvette can be bought for 150 K.
Capable of a 2:01 lap at Sebring and 1:18 at Road Atlanta. About the same performance range as a ALMS Porsche. Of course you'll need Tony Ave to accomplish that lap. You will need someone like Patrick Long to accomplish the same feat in the Porsche.
The SB2.2 Chevy motors make 840 plus HP, can be bought for less than 20K, The Hewland tranny's cost about 15K and are pretty stout and obviously rebuilds don't cost 30K like the Porsche tranny's do.
The Nascar 9" Ford rear ends are near bullet proof and cost a couple grand.
Brembo and PFC 6 piston Calipers can be bought used/rebuilt from Cup teams for about 25 cents on the dollars.
Examples of good TA cars that are just 2-3 seconds a lap slower at a Sebring or Road Atlanta can be bought at nearly half the AVE car price.
ie: Dave Machavern's three time Crane Cams V8 StockCar GT-1 champ Tommy Riggins built Corvette that sold for about 85 K. This car has done a 2:04 at Sebring.
The Porsche is cool but for me, even if cost were not a factor.....I'll take the TA Corvette.
Also, isn't LG's ALMS GT2 Corvette still available?
Love that American Iron.

To me one of the atractions of these le mans style cars is that they represent the cutting edge of hard top motorsport. The areo alone on these things is amazing! Not only for downforce even the cooling is impressive! Obviously there are rules to adhear to these cars still 'look' more racey than the stock cars.
I think the ultimate looking hard top cars are things like DTM!
Chris.
