Default Best camcorder mount not GoPro

Correct me if I am wrong, but the GoPro is not a standard mount at the camera?

If so what's a good one, I have a Canon Camcorder (Vixia R30) & will mount inside (as the lense does not have protection).

Something to stick to side or back window.

I like dealing with one cup instead of 2 or 3.

Thanks.

I have used this mount with a Cannon 720 IS point and shoot. Not sure if it's up to camcorder weight but it worked fine for what I mounted on it. It says it's rated for cameras up to 3 lbs.

The camcorder is about 10 oz on my postal scale so that should be good.

The base on this one you use looks like the GoPro base almost exactly.

You can get the GoPro tripod mount for $7. They're a great basis for custom mounts since you can attach them to anything with a 1/4-20 thread.

Going the other way, the GoPro suction cup mount is actually from Panavise. They sell it in a standard tripod mount:

Yes, I saw that Panavise has a huge product line & it's on Amazon with free shipping & lots of good reviews.

Think I'll go there.

Thanks all!

Default mount

Sorry to hijack. I am using a small Sony camcorder and looking at a couple of the mounts it looks like with the angle of the windshield inside that the camera would not clear. I ordered the fat gecko dual cup. Will let you know how it works.

If you want an example of steadiness on the Panavise you can look at this pic-n-pic video I did using it on the side window. The inset video focused on the driver is a Cannon 720is mounted on the Panavise. The main video is another 720is on a custom mount I made. The 720is specs says it weighs 7.05 ounces without batteries.

Note: the Panavise is not good for mounting a standard size camera with a bottom mount hole to the windshield. It'll work fine on the side or rear window if you have a remote to operate the camera with. I also did not like the 3" extension for the panavise. It seemed to make it less stable.

I now use my Panavise on the windshield with a little 808 #11 camera velcroed on a plastic block I drilled and tapped 1/4-20. It is dead steady for that but those cameras only weigh about an ounce.
