95 LT1 track car
I am converting my 95 street car to my weekend track car. I am spending the money to do it right, have yet to take it to track yet (Barber is paid for third week of March), but I have only so much money at one time, my question is, stock oil pan, Can I get away for a few months with just adding extra quart of oil before going to a road race pan and also do you recommend oil volume oil pump? Engine is basically stock. right now I am upgrading wheels , tires, C5 brakes, stainless steel brake lines, harness bar etc. just the basics. Any advice is appreciated. I wish I was rich but I do want to track a C4 and I know a Z06 would be more cost efficient.

OK, How much track time do you have?
Do you have j55 brakes on it now?
Did you already buy the C5 brakes?
Answers will give me some ideas to help

My 82,000 mile 94 stock LT1 that I shift at 5800-6000 rpm runs Pirelli slicks and has over 140 track hours with the stock pan. The heads have never been off the engine. Maybe mine is just the exception but I've never had any issues. I run redline 20W-50 street oil, one quart over. I do a used oil analysis annually: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...ue#Post2601239

I thought the stock pan on my car was sufficient...
I ate 3 rod bearings and broke the crank in 2 places...and it had an extra quart in it.
Not too sure how the LTx pan varies from the L98, but I'd be concerned about pushing it hard with good brakes and sticky tires...it's a recipe for disaster.
I put a Canton Road Race pan back in...never a problem again. Motor has 40k miles and lots of track time on it.

I'm running a Canton pan as well as an Accusump and a very large oil cooler out back.
Brake ducts are cheap to set up and help cool the bearings as well as the brakes.
I put a 6pt bar in my car, not only good for protecting the drivers, but stiffened it up quite a bit as well.

In my 96 LT4 that I autocrossed & used for track only I ran a Canton oil pan, saw too many lose their motors on long sweepers even running an extra quart. I do have a Canton oil pan, pump & pick up for sale here on the Forum for $275.00 but will let it go for $250.00 + shipping. If interested shoot me a PM.

i spun main bearings, twice, on my '94 at road america. built the original motor into 383ci and put a canton road race pan on it, all is well 40,000 miles on the build. has a mellings high volume oil pump as well.
