Are You Faster Then A Redneck?
The TV show "Are You Faster Then A Redneck" will be at Texas World Speedway NARRA event February 15, 16 & 17th. Who's going?

The rear coupler disintegrated and destroyed the torque tube last month. I hope to be there if the replacement arrives and is back in the car in time.

Honestly, I'm not sure about this show. Being from the south, growing up on a farm in a small town that was virtually one big tobacco field, I've been called a redneck on several occasions. Most of the time they portray good ole boys as a bunch of dumb*** hicks on tv shows or movies and the rest of the world starts to think we're all idiots that have no teeth and big mullets! Hopefully it won't be like that. On the preview the muscle cars seem to be highly modded. If they outrun exotics with a camaro, mustang, etc that the only thing stock is the body shape then brag about being faster, to me they'll be just like the high school kid at the drag strip with a gutted 89 civic with nitrous and a turbo smiling cause he out ran a stock C5! Now if one of the muscle cars is a stock Z06, Viper, ZL1 that beats a 911, Gallardo, etc, then they'll have legit bragging rights! Sorry for the rant, not trying to be an ***hole, just have strong opinions!

I expect to see something like Mark Stileow's Camaro against a stock "Eurotrash Ride" car with plenty of trash talk and of course the "good guys" will win.
Of course the "good ole boys" will be on R compound rubber, have totally modded suspensions and late model high HP drive trains to prove that late 60's muscle cars are equal to to all that furrin stuff.
Take it with a grain (alright bucket) of salt. Keep reminding yourself it's made for TV and enjoy seeing some neat cars.

Show will blow like all modern TV today. It will be a bunch of people with no experience (both rednecks and exotic guys) trying to drive around a track for the first time with no instruction, just F'n up left and right, and doing dumb sh*t to make good TV for 99% of Speed viewers who have no clue.
If one of us got out there in a C6Z, we would crush everything by probably minutes, not seconds per lap and that would not make good TV. Now if I crashed my car or cut through the grass and barely got into an accident, or threw a bottle as someone, got into a fight, that would be what the producers would expect. The average speed viewer does NOT want to see someone executing proper lines or showing respect and track etiquette.

I think you guys are aiming your sights too low. The show is featuring a GT-R from SouthSide Performance with hp upgrades, full aero, track prepared. You can see it on NARRA's facebook page.
It's going to take Troy's car to beat that if there is a legitimate driver behind the wheel of the GT-R. Camaro's aren't going to get it done. AND it's a NARRA event, there aren't many Civics at those. Considering Troy started the thread, I think he know's something we don't. There will also be a race prepped 2011 GT3 RS there from Louisiana with a sequential shifter. All of them should be in the same class.
I'm reading between the lines here, but this show should be pretty exciting actually if they have chosen the right participants.
Troy???

Most of the cars racing the euro's have also competed in the" Optima Ultimate Street Car Challange" . Highly modded? yep! trained drivers ? yep. should be what its meant to be, us being gearheads, watching cars on tv.

A few cars from Detroit Speed will be on there. It will be a "made for TV" show rather than a "made for racers" show. I thought about applying, but I my vette wasn't redneck enough.

I'm not aware of any show taping during the NARRA event (there is no logistical way they could do this during another event going on), however, as mentioned, there is a fella that was ON the show that will be at this NARRA event.
