Default Anyone useing a double pass radiator?

I have been having issues with keeping water and oil temps in check at the trackand got a recommedation to go with a double pass radiatior...
Anyone have any feedback and would it still be good for daily driving?

Anyone use a double pass oil cooler???

Not sure whether a Ron Davis radiator is a double pass unit but it will cool the car. Had one with built in EOC in both of my C5s and the big issue was getting the oil warm enough. With a stock 186 degree thermostat the coolant temp would sit at 200 degrees all day even in 90+ ambient temps and oil temp would peak at 230.

I built one for my car, but sadly it's been on jack stands for a long time. I have used them in race cars previously. I even drove a lotus race car with a triple pass. All else being equal I'd estimate about 10% better cooling with a double pass. I've also done a few other things to improve cooling so my setup is really not a direct comparison to an off-shelf unit that bolts in place of the factory setup. Mine is more like something one would do to a proper race car, but it is all built into a street car.

I'm running a double pass off the shelf Griffin on my race car. It is smaller (about 20%) than the factory radiator in order to save weight. I've seen about 220 max on the track so far.

I asked an engineer who worked on radiators for the big 3 some time ago and his answer was that there is no definitive answer, no rule of thumb. However, if there are people here who have good experience with a car that is the same as yours then I'd accept that data point. Of course, differences in the car such as revised ducting etc. can affect that . More than a little black magic.

Check out Finspeed.com. They have a Dual Pass radiatior. Give daniel a call. I know he has one or two laying around.

what are you using now?
What ducting?
A/C condenser still there?
Radiator and cooler are clean and not filled with junk? Fins are good?
Are you running mostly water or 50/50?

You don't necessarily need to throw a lot of $ at this to fix the issues.

Here the problem:

I have a supercharger intercooler that blocks alot of airflow to my radiator and oil cooler. I have a LG supercooler and a Z06 oil cooler but they stuggle to cool things with the intercooler blocking flow..
I'm considering deleting fog lights and adding insert to direct flow and adding dual intercoolers up front...simular to the system breathless performance makes. This would cool the oil alot better and give more room for the radiator...

Without flow (and ducting) you are going to have problems no matter what.

Wow! that's really low. Did you still have the A/C condenser in front too?

Another thing I thought about is the ron davis for the vette even w/o coolers is like $650. If you buy the same construction generic chevy ron davis from speedway parts for a generic stock car it is about the same size +/- an inch and 200 bucks! So why not just use the cheap Ron Davis and use different radiator hoses? It seems that there is a 450 premium for direct fit.

No. However, the package was the old DRM version with the oil cooler pickup mounted to the oil filter boss with a remote mount oil filter using one of the old 1 quart oil filter. Total oil in the system (including the normal C5 1 quart over) was around 9 quarts. The radiator really super cooled everything and in 40 degree ambient temps it was almost impossible to get the oil temp above the 130 range. I installed a thermostat to keep it above 180 and the extra plumbing and resistance to oil flow raised the coolant and oil temps about 30 degrees each.
