Glad you're ok, Bill. I just now got got to see the video.

And from what I saw of your car as it passed the camera car, it really looked nice!

Yes, it was a race. I was leading the pack in my ST2 car racing in SU because I'm normally the only ST2 car in Norcal. Damage is not bad and I've already fiberglassed the rear tub back together and I have a new rear valence on the way. I don't think my friend's miata is too bad either.

Looks like just a racing incident to me.

Your car looks good Bill.

I'll be on the track at Fernley on Saturday.

I see it a little different. It looked to me like the Vette was totally at fault. He was on the brakes hard at the apex and the Miata had no place to go. The vette certainly should have been aware of the Miata in his mirror too. No one could have avoided that and it was uncalled for.

I think it was the fault of the Legends car. Although I think there is plenty of blame for the guy in the camera car. What was that guy thinking doing that?

When you get faster the bugs will tend to hit the front of your car .
As a autobody tech I really feel bad for the Miata .Its hurt pretty bad

Disregard my previous statements, it's every man for himself out here in the RM region as well. Now to confirm how I got that in my head in the first place. . .

I don't know, my car is still in pieces right now. I was thinking I had 3 weeks, but I would have to actually leave a week from Weds and that's pretty unlikely.

Just the C4, it's our SCCA Annual Training day.
I was evaluating trainee instructors on track, recommending them for a license, etc.

I got to play "bad student driver" to see if they could handle the different situations.

Then smoked some of our current instructors in their C5's & 911's in the instructors session.

So do you suggest he pass under yellow? Seems the miata driver was focused on the Vette's bumper and getting passed the legends car vs. taking note of the waving yellow.

A question in general terms, and this is a good illustration of the question,

How hard do you get on the brakes for a yellow? I doubt there's a rule. Many of you guys have lots more track miles than I do, so what do you say?

It's sort of a situational awareness question.

I know my instinct on the freeway if I am faced with a panic stop is to check my 6. Maybe I dive to the breakdown lane to avoid being rear ended.

Do you guys slam them on or do a quick evaluation and brake as appropriate?

No aspersions have been cast here, just learning.

well this was sure attention getting for a early morning wake up. Couple of things caught my attention,
1st. Legends car appeared to be going a lot slower than miata/corvette, he was quite qware of that as he almost immediately swerved to right. obviously he was watching and hugging track right. Good driver. (I don't know what a legends car is but maybe shouldn't be on track with these much faster cars?)
2nd. It appears corvette made a good call and stayed in it to get clear and clean of Miata.
3rd. So this resulted in corvette going IN hot and certainly off line which put him in uncomfortable spot but it appeared he would have done just fine.
Problem came when yellow showed up, fast, off line, traffic, oh yea, that's what racing is all about! lots of pucker here! so my thoughts are the corvette was a little over braking. But hey, that's hind site and that's racing, no fault, just racing.
It was handled well and it was great racing with gentlmen racers as all attitudes seem to be intelligent with coolness. real pro's out there.

I agree with RBL . That Vette came to almost a dead stop on Yellow .
Not a red and nothing blocking the track ( GT40 ?)
Miata had just givin the Vette a point .
Whats a Legends car doing in the same race as the Vette ?
Bet that Miata needs a core support ,Rad , LF FT suspension ,subframe .
Bad deal all around .
