Default Should I just get a Lexan Windshield???

I'm cutting the top off my '00 FRC to install the cage. My front windshield doesn't have any cracks, but it looks like someone sandblasted it, it's got 115k miles on it! So I just got a quote from Safelite, they want $700 for the front (Non-HUD) and another $125 to remove the rear, then come back and re-install it when I'm all done. For that money I could do Lexan front and rear? Any advice? I'm familiar with working with it, I've installed a few custom bubble canopies on aircraft. Any vendors here?

Thx Ben, yup they were like the first place that came up on the google search. 3/16 or 1/4?

Got any pics of C5 installations?

I'm still waiting to hear back from another windshield guy. If he can just pull the front and rear, and then re-install them in a few weeks, I'm going to go that route. I already trashed my budget for this season and I haven't even bought tires yet.

3/16, but you need at least a center brace.
Don't install w/rivets.

No need to pull the glass for the cage unless you're removing the top.
I have 5-Start front and rear. The rear isn't worth the weight savings IMO, but it makes it really easy to work back there if you have to.

Call your local glass guy and tell them you want the cheapest '97-'04 Corvette windshield they have. I paid $150 + install. No need to pay extra for glass with HUD coatings in it or thinner Z06-spec glass.

Thx Travis. The $700 was for a non-HUD windshield, they wanted $1300 for the HUD! I never asked if it was Z06 or not, I'll have to find out. I'm still waiting to hear back from a local one man operation.
