An Oreca Viper would be much easier to purchase, than a Pratt and Miller car.

I like that as well. Just make sure the Viper has a LeMans history.

I remember the Vipers at Daytona. Not only were he cars great but the Oreca team had the best food. I think the Oreca team was the reason Gary hired the chef from The Rattlesnake Club in Detroit.

Oreca was also responsible for the lone Japanese manufacturer to win LM overall. I wish Cadillac had contracted them to run their LMP program, it had the speed to compete with the R8 before getting cancelled. Oreca I believe could have made them a winner.

The Viper I believe is an Iconic car which a wealthy individual maybe able to keep on track. In a time when the LM winners are carbon tubs, and/or expensive exotic motors (how much would an AM or Ferrari V12 cost to refresh?) , the Viper is a relatively low tech high production vehicle. The C5R/C6R would be a great option but so few were built.

Further down on the collector market but an interesting option, I would be interested to know what the going price for a Callaway GT3/GT4 C6 is. They maybe a bargain as they might be at the end of their up to spec life span, and Corvette race cars usually do well as an investment.

I think would either of the cars would take an LSX, though the GTP, might be a lot more difficult, to impossible.
But a 500+ HP race chassis would make a fun HPDE car, I like the DP's, but I'd have to compare the two. Also, one off is way more expensive than even low volume cookie cutter.
I guess it really depends on your budget, and goals.

I forgot all about the Callaway cars in Europe.

Callaway Corvette Z06.R GT3

I'm not sure of the collectibility but they're interesting. They should be about the same price as one of the DP cars. Maybe cheaper. Callaway is listing used ones at $200,000. I'm sure there's room for negotiation.

They would make a great track day car.

Do you have any updates for your GTP restoration thread? Pictures would be awesome.

I'm so in for pictures of your GTP. That car was the bee's knees when I was growing up.

They sure do and that's excellent advice.

You can actually make a lot of money in racing if you're smart. Shelby did it. Richard Childress and Joe Gibbs are doing it right now. You know Roger Penske makes money on every form of racing he's ever been involved in.

The William F1 team made over $6 million net profit last year.

A lot to the teams at the Rolex were making money renting out rides. People were paying $250,000 to drive a Prototype car. Put 4 drivers in one car and you're going to do pretty well.

Does Hendricks not have an engine program like Childress does? Figured you might go Hendricks because of the history.
