Nothing official yet, but best report I've read of witnesses says that something broke on the right front, car veered hard right into the concrete wall exiting turn 4. Car flipped/tumbled about halfway down the front straight. Cage looks to be in pretty good shape, but the seat seems to have moved. No word on what the fatal injury was.

Prayers and comfort for his family.

Mike

I feel for his son, as Jason was a single dad. RIP.

There should be an unwritten racer rule; to share death details, so future racers can possibly learn something.

I agree completely. All I read was that it was a neck injury that caused his death. I have about 100 questions, like was he wearing a HANS, did the seat break loose, was it bad install or bad design or just too strong a force at the wrong spot in the chassis. I think the details of what caused his death and not so much the full autopsy report is what needs to be shared. It, unfortunately, takes the death of a racer to implement safety changes that are often known that are needed. In this case, if it was not known there was a potential issue, all the more reason to share the details so others may not meet the same fate.

The sanctioning body should release the safety equipment details.

crease-guard:
From what I have gathered, he was indeed wearing a HANS or equivalent device.
