* Picked up my 1969 C3 1 piece front surround and the L88 hood. Both are in race weight. Have all the body save for the rear one piece surround.

Woody has to finish up the Mike Beckers C6 racer and the Bobby Kennedy Trans Am 2 Mustang before we can really get going on this.

If I use a small block chevy with older style 23 degree heads HSR may let it run as an IMSA GTX or AAGT class car. In others words it would run against DEKON Monza's and the like.

Trans Am racer Bob Stretch (FixRim) makes some 15x10 aluminum wheels with 5 inch back space that might make a good vintage type wheel. He uses these on his TA2 camaro with the 10" wide Hoosiers.

This project should pick up steam soon. Woody is finishing up Mike Beckers tube frame GT2 bodied C6, and has also finished up the TA2 Mustang of Bobby Kennedy.

I had a nice GTA late model stock car for sale, but when I realized I had about 25 K (at wholesale value) or more of fresh parts on that car that could go on this C3 build. So... Using my extraordinary mathematical skills I quickly (7 months later) deducted that it may not be a good idea to sell the GTA car for 17 K.

The GTA chassis body etc will be sold later (maybe as a roller)

So this C3 will get from the GTA car:

* 327 ci Dart Block, Brodix head, 525 HP small block chevy
* Quartermaster reverse mount bellhousing and 7.25 clutch
* Tex T101 tranny
* ATL 22 gal cell
* Kirkey road race seat
* Autometer guages
* C&R radiator
* two Safecraft Nascar fire bottles
* Crane Ignition
* Penske shocks
* Holley 80541 650 cfm carb by Bo Laws
* Schroth belts
* SWEET rack
* Holley blue fuel pumps
* SPAL electric fan

and more

My C3 is gonna get a tube chassis VERY similar to Mike Becker's Woody C6. About 7" shorter wheelbase of course, but it will get the Howe TA2 front clip, near identical center section and the tail-under type rear with nine inch Ford rear end and three link.

Ordered the one piece rear clip and L88 flares from Corvette America.

Recv'd the L88 plexiglass headlight covers from Classic Aircraft & Auto

Recv'd the L88 air dam from Stinger Fiberglass

I am gonna try 15 inch wheels, probably with American Torq Thrusts if I can get the 5x5 bolt pattern. Will try out the 15x10 inch and 15x12 inch Hoosier Modified tires. The compound is similar to the compound used on the Trans Am TA2 cars.

Also will try out the CCW 18" wheels from my C6 Bemco racer with Pirelli's or Conti's from GT tire.

The one piece rear clip came in, very good quality and very light as it was built in two layer instead of three. The L88 flares also showed up. These pieces were made by ACI and purchased through Corvette America. They were great to work with.

I am taking apart the late model GTA we put together and using the drivetrain and a lot of other stuff on this project. I put the chassis and body up for sale and sold it the first day.

Looking for a Feb. finish date. I ceded my spot in line so Woody could build the C6 for Mike Beckers, Bobby Kennedy's TA2 Mustang and the just finished NASA SU for Larry Lepurage.

Woody actually starts on this chassis tomorrow after returning from Minnesota.

I have just about everything for this project sitting in the shop. Hope to race it at Sebring early next year.

Woody made a few changes to the 69 Chassis. Body is off to our fiberglass guy to get the L88 flares installed. Drivetrain is sitting there ready to go. Need wheels...I am gonna try a set of the 15x10 TA2 aluminum wheels by Bob Stretch (Wheels America) to go with the Hoosier TA2 15x10 tire and see how that works out.

Recent pics after the L88 flares have been added. Dick at The Boat & Fiberglass Works in Deland Fl did a nice job on the glass work at a very fair price. He also filled in the side marker light holes and removed the raised area under where the rear chrome bumper would go. In addition he glassed in the rear lower panel rather than bolt it in.

Motor and tranny sitting in chassis for fitment. Just got a barely used 22 gal ATL fuel cell at about 25 cents on the dollar. I am going to try the Wheels America TA2 15x10 wheels with the Hoosier TA2 bias tire. Have most of the parts needed to complete. Body will go out for paint pretty soon.

Looks like a pretty cool project. Is it going to be dedicated track car or are you planing on putting glass and lights in it and drive it on the street also?

SCCA GT-1 and HSR Group 9. In HSR, I believe it will run in the class with the old DEKON Monza's and similar.
