Default What are my wheels/slicks worth?

I am considering selling my wheels/tires simply because I don't have the time or money these days for open tracking the car. I just bought them in March/April. It is a set of C5 Z06 OEM wheels, 17x9.5 fronts and 18x10.5 rears. The front tires are brand new Continental Hoosier slicks from the Grand Am series. They only have one day, three 15 min. track sessions on them. The rears are also Continental Hoosiers from the Grand Am series but were scrubbed tires with about 70% life left. I also only used them for three sessions, so basically like new. The fronts are 275mm and the rears are 305mm. What do you think I should ask for them not including shipping?

You can get those tires for $100 each (as you probably know). You can get a set of wheels for $500 (sometimes with tires). If you offer the lot for $6-700 you should get some takers. GLWS.

I just picked up a similar set of wheels with NT-01s in similar condition in DFW for $800.

No...the fronts were about $150 on sale directly from Hoosier's website. I do think I paid about $120 each for the rears plus shipping.

Yeah I agree. I was patient and over two months was able to gather a full set one wheel at a time. I think I paid about $600 plus shipping for them all. Then add tire mounting at $30/tire and I have about $1300 in the setup.

Over the past month, I have bought/sold the following OEM C5Z06 wheels/tires:

- bought one 17/18" set of wheels with street tires
- bought one 17/18" set of wheels
- sold four 17" wheels with 6-8 heat cycle 275 Hoosier R6s
- sold four 17" wheels with 2 heat cycle 245 Hoosier HWETS
- sold two 17" wheels with no tires
- sold two 17" wheels with no tires
- sold four street tires

Front 17x9.5 C5Z06 wheels are worth $75-125 each, depending on condition. Rear 18x10.5 C5Z06 are worth $200-300 (or more) depending on demand.

Those tires are worth 50% of their purchase price once you put more than one heat cycle on them. There is nothing brand new about what you have posted above if they have at least three heat cycles and more for the rears that started at 70% life.

I personally would pay you no more than $550 for the four wheels if they were in great shape. Maybe $700 for the wheels and tires if I was interested in those tires.

My .02. I will gladly take change.

I don't want to argue with you, but USED or SCRUBBED Conti slicks are for sale for $100. I think the seller is a forum sponsor but just in case I will refrain from naming them. Your tires are not new anymore and value of tires goes down immediately after the first heat cycle.

I find it odd that you ask for opinions and then when one is stated, you start arguing. If you already know what your stuff is worth, just put it up for sale and let the market prove you right or wrong!

Cheers!

Wasn't arguing. I was just stating that I had bought the fronts brand new from Hoosier. They had never been used. They were made for the BMWs in Grand Am but they went up to an 18" rim this year so they are clearing them out. I had ran the Grand Am Hoosiers on my Cobra for several years and know they wear longer than an R6 due to being a 100 compound verses a 60. More of an endurance tire which takes longer to heat up. Anyway I do appreciate everyone's open input.

They HAD never been used. Now they have 3 heat cycles on them. They are therefore not new and hence worth much much less. The rears are worth even less than that.

It's also worth mentioning that people looking to use the wheels for the track will not care that much about their aesthetic condition (so they might be willing to pay a bit extra for the tires but not for good-looking wheels), while people looking to use them for the street definitely will (so they'll be ready to pay a premium for mint wheels but they won't care about the tires).

C5 Z06 wheels were also available new for a reasonable price, I bought one, but now I can't find the source. I found it through this forum. Don't know if that's still available.

Yeah that is about what I found when I was considering going 10.5" at all four corners.

Dude I get your point. Lighten up...

I paid $100 each for 70% scrubbed of this same tire in a 275/35/18 from Rehagan Racing a couple years ago. So I think it is safe to conclude that $75-100 each for them with three 15 minute sessions on them is a good price.

I don't know why you would tell me to lighten up. I was just commenting on your point, not trying to rain on your parade.

I agree 100% with your second statement. If you're just selling tires. You're now selling a bundle, reducing the field of potential buyers.

Good luck with you sale! You'll find plenty of buyers here at the right price; wheels and tires priced right don't seem to last for more than a few days. You'll get a higher price if you're OK with waiting a bit until the perfect buyer comes along (one who is interested in both the wheels + tires).

FWIW here is some data from TODAY.

The HOW ebay price (buy it now) for a new 17" z16 rim is $325, he does not show an 18" available.

I have bought rims from HOW, these are oem.

Prices for these type rims, IMO, are holding steady & maybe on a rise.

Guys know what a strong, light rim they are. I have 4 sets. From various places.
