Default Any Upgrade suggestions while engine is out?

I am having my engine pulled to refresh it. The engine is already built but I was wondering if there are any other upgrades that i should do while the engine is out?

I use the car a little around town but primarily for track days.

Thanks !

Heat wrap (or coat) the headers, and heat wrap all the clutch lines as well as all the lines around the starter.

I put in a new clutch (RPS BC2) and speed bleeder last year so all set there but I will definitely check out the clutch while it is out.

I have thought about swapping the motor mounts what benefit do they give you?

I hadn't heard of Torque tube bearings and couplers. Is that an improvement item (and if so what does it help with) or just good maintenance to do while in there?

Thanks I will plan to do that. Do most folks go ceramic or heat wrap?

I will also wrap anything else I can. Hopefully it will get rid of the crazy vibration rattle I hear when accelerating hard!

There are two rubber based couplers (guibos) on the drive shaft inside of the torque tube. They tend to crack then disintegrate when under heavy stress ftom tracking the car. Very good maintenance practice to inspect couplers and bearings in TT as long as it is apart and out of the car. You could save yourself a big headache and lots of cost / time later by catching the problem early.

My couplers went out at track attack last month, definitely inspect or replace them while its out. Second I would go ahead and replace the tick master / slave cylinder Katech has a complete kit.

Thanks I will check out Katech.

Did you end up going with the stock couplers when you fixed yours?

Some good ideas here. I'm going to finish insulating the top of my tunnel to keep the heat out of the cockpit as much as possible. I don't like using cool suits. It's also a good time to inspect and replace brake lines if needed. And inspect all your wiring. I just dropped my engine yesterday to start working it.

Those things letting go wound up costing thousands in repairs the second day I got it back after a complete engine build, I wasn't happy. I think I will replace them every year or two moving forward, depending upon how often I have the car torn apart. with a 30 hour engine refresh schedule it should work out to be good timing any way. I went with the stock units, it is my understanding that that's all there is unless you want to gomwith some sort of solid piece, which would transmit entirely too much vibration

I have one stock one and 1 aluminum one in mine. 2 al ones would be too much vibration I was told.

Sir,

Would you see any benefit on the street for a DD?

Only if you want your steering to be a touch more precise. If you have grown fond of the rubbery feel then leave it out.

It really depends on the age and condition of the factory rubber bushing. Some of them are so bad that it makes a huge difference.
