Default SCCA full cage and side windows

Hi,
I am just about to have a full SCCA cage fitted to my C5 Z06.
Will this mean that I will lose my side windows completely?
My installer seems to think not BUT I thought I would ask the racers on the site as they will surely know. Not that I need the windows particularly, only when towing in the rain with an open trailer ?
Thanks in advance !

I'm pretty sure if you run NASCAR sidebars, there's no hope for windows or interior door panels.

I've never seen a cage that had nascar bars and windows... ever.

Here is a question to the OP, why are you worried about saving the windows when you are putting a cage in the car?

I think RAFTRACER'S (Danny Popp) NASA car has windows and NASCAR bars.

Keeping the rain out when towing on an open trailer.

there are other ways of doing this. I know most of them, as I towed my c5 on an open trailer for years without window.s

I have seen several cars locally that have the side bars and have retained closable windows. They were done by Piper Motorsports in Northern VA. Door panels cut away and power junk for window was removed. Track window guides stayed and the window is pulled up and secured by a strap. You lose a little side room, but not much, maybe an inch or two.

If you would like to share your wisdom and experience with a few tips it would be appreciated and do not fancy getting the interior drenched !
Thanks !

I bought a sheet of 1/8" lexan from Lowes and used a dremmel to cut each side to fit. Took a bit of patience, but the lexan and 3" painters tape will keep all (or most) of the rain out when towing.

Here's the best pic I have of the lexan windows.

I put black gorilla tape on the edges to protect potential corners and fingers... Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Yes, you can have a SCCA legal cage and retain functioning power windows. We've done dozens of them.

Side windows still remaining with NASCAR door beams on both sides.

I had a cage built and kept my power windows. Same builder who built Sawtelle's cage. Frank Fuller in Lodi, CA.

I received your PM, but my "Premier" account expired and they won't let me respond without deleting about a thousand old pm's first so I'll just say it here.

Yes, definitely build the cage to scca and nasa specs so you can sell the car later. You can have it built in stages if you like. For example, just have the builder start with a roll bar with rear bracing that can later be modified with a full front cage. If you are in CA, then you might want to contact TC Design in Milpitas since they can handle not only the cage, but also the rest of the things you might want (steering wheel, seat, harnesses, etc.).

I have full cage in my C5 with NASCAR door bars and windows fit fine. I have since removed windows for weight reduction but they fit fine with the full cage and door bars.
