Formula One United States - TV Schedule
Formula One - UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX - MULTIPLE NETWORKS!!!
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I am posting this earlier than normal as there are a couple of gotchas
in next weekend's coverage and I wanted everyone to get a chance to think
about them.
This looks like the way it's going to be now but I'll keep an eye on things
as the week goes on in case there are changes (they might add a second
reshowing for Monday or some such thing.)
I try to get this right but they don't make it easy!
So be sure to double check things - especially the channels!
THINGS TO KNOW
*LIVE* COVERAGE OF QUALIFYING will be on the CNBC network.
*LIVE* COVERAGE OF THE RACE will be on the NBC network. (as in "Jay Leno")
ALL RE-SHOWINGS OF ALL SHOWS DURING THE WEEKEND will be on the NBC SPORTS NET network.
1. THE TIMES AND PROGRAM LENGTHS FOR THIS WEEKEND ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!
2. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF THE RACE ON SUNDAY ONLY!!!
3. The LENGTHS of SOME shows are different! For example, the Friday
xxxPractice show is scheduled for 2 1/2 hours!
5. Once again - the PRE-RACE show for the LIVE showing of the race is INCLUDED IN THE RACE SHOW ITSELF this week!!!
6. Once again - the PRE-RACE show for the RE-SHOWING of the race is scheduled separately this week!!!
xxxIf you want to see it you'll need to record it separately!!
The post-race show "F1 Extra" is shown immediately after the race
show whatever time that may be. the simplest way to make sure you
record it is to simply add enough extra time to the race broadcast recording to
get (a) any extra time that was needed to record the entire race
including any delays, and (b) "F1 Extra". My standard is to
add at least three hours (!) just to make sure I cover most eventualities.
I pull this info from from my Tivo's schedule. I have no guarantee that
it is correct but it usually is.

Two days to go, folks. No schedule changes that I can see.
News:
Kimi Raikkonen will miss the last two races for back surgery. Heikki Kovalainen looks set to replace him for Austin and Brazil.
Sergio Perez is out at McLaren. Supposed replacement is Kevin Magnussen, the son of well-known Team Corvette driver Jan Magnussen.

Was Q3 ever televised? The broadcast went to commercial during Q2 right after Sutil threw it off in T1. When the commercials were over, it showed the pole winner sitting in his car after Q3 was over.
My DVR never missed a beat and didn't appear to skip anything????

Yeah, I saw all of Q3 (the live showing.) Seems odd that the local affiliates could/would screw up a live broadcast like that. Were you guys watching the first showing or a replay?
A heads up re: next weekend @ Brazil...
NBC is going to do that weekend like they did this weekend:
Friday practice on NBCSN
Saturday qualifying on CNBC
Sunday race on NBC
I haven't put the schedule together yet but at least get that idea in your heads to start with

Whenever possible you should record the LIVE shows as the networks see replays of shows to be targets for fiddling, cutting, screwing up, etc. (especially shows where even the live showing draws small audiences.)
NBCSN ("your home for open-wheel racing" ) has clearly been more concerned with British soccer all season and I'm sure the folks in the control room have little problem with "editing" the replays of F1 to accommodate their own priorities.
