You honestly believe GM would go BACKWARDS in the Z06's track prowess? Spend all that R&D money and make something that will puke fluids after a dozen laps and be spanked by their direct competition?
Really?
I guess you don't know about their engineering prowess...their cutting edge innovations and the fact that they co-developed the Z06 and the C7.R side by side.
Yeah...GM doesn't know WTF they're doing.

Holy crap...it hasn't even been unveiled OR track tested yet and you're whining?

If the new C7Z is really going to sport a blower...should we start the "my C7Z blew up at the track" thread now?
After the LS7 BS...they need to provide a solid, track capable platform that sets a new reliability standard for the Z06 or at least equals the LS6 in reliability.
Kinda sad when the pinnacle of GM street/track "out of the box" performance AND reliability is 2001 engineering..

you mean like the 130k ZR1 that was supposed to be a track star? the one the C6R is named after? oh that one...ya, the one that cant hang with a NA motor in 110 degrees as ive seen for myself. OH! how about every GT car in all the most professional racing around the world? yup...all NA.

I think you'll also find that some pretty awesome supercharged cars have done remarkably well in endurance racing. Although it was a few years back, Bentley's smoked their competition in just about every endurance race in the world.
Not to mention the Stutz Bearcats and Deusenburg's of the day. Kicked a$$ and took names...and LOTS of trophies.
The lesson here is when it is designed to do it, they CAN do it. The ZR1 was NEVER intended to compete head to head in a racing environment with the Z06. EVER! It was DESIGNED as a GT cruiser with some pretty awesome capabilities.
That some owners TRY to make the ZR1 what it wasn't intended isn't the fault of the GM engineering staff. If they had DESIGNED the ZR1 to best the Z06 for endurance events...then that's exactly what it would be doing.
The Z06 is their bragging rights...I give GM a little more credit than you (obviously) do. They wouldn't introduce it as their TRACK-ready car if it wasn't capable of beating every benchmark of the previous generations.
And I'm sure in the next month we will see after the magazines get their hands on some and flog them around for a bit.

Guys we haven't heard what the ZR1 will be yet. I like to keep positive and maybe it's a 500 cubic engine stump puller that spins to 7500 rpm. Ok maybe I'm dreaming a bit

So how many of the "supercharged track car" and "GM can do no wrong" fans in this thread have ACTUALLY raced a car on a road course? How many have with a forced induction car?

How about something a little more modern then, shall we?
Vortech Supercharged Scion Wins WERC Opener
TORRANCE, Calif. — Endurance road racing is perhaps the truest test of durability. And this past weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, the team simply listed as "Scion Racing" pulled off an amazing victory in the E1 class in the season opener of the Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC) series. The Scion tC would take the checkered on Lap 81, logging more than 225 race miles. Put simply, it marks Scion's first endurance racing win in the world.
Less than three hours after winning a nail-biter sprint race in Performance Touring C that saw driver and team manager Dan Gardner cross the finish line a scant half second ahead of the second place Mazda RX-8, the very same Scion tC racecar was prepped and ready to be put through the wringer for the three-hour Enduro.

The more things change...the more they stay the same, eh?
P.S. Henri Zogaib ran a supercharged Chevy motor in his No. 2 "KidsFinishFirst.org" Pontiac-Riley Daytona Prototype car...not sure who else has, but that would be a pretty "modern" race car using old-school technology, right?
