Default Help with removal of HVAC system for track car setup

I'm stripping my C5 Z06 down for cage install. How does the HVAC system come out? I've taken every screw out there is and the thing still won't budge. The manual says there are 2 nuts on the back, but I can't find them. Has anyone done this before? I've heard some guys just rip the thing out.

No need to rip it out. I think the bolts you're looking for are #1 and #21 in the attached image. Once all the bolts are removed, the HVAC won't just pop right out... IIRC, it took some finagling before I got the right angles.

Thanks! #21 from under the hood, no wonder it wouldn't move.

Actually there are 3 nuts holding the system in place. Two are on the passenger side and one on driver side just behind the engine. Bolt 21 holds the AC line.

Might want to keep defroster as it is worth the weight. Take that ac parts out but leave heater so defroster still works

Not worth it. It only blows hot moist air on the windshield.

You need the AC evaporator to make the defrost function work.

IMHO you are better off and it's lighter to mount a rear window type defroster on the front window.

Make sure to remove the ac drain plug turndown. It will be hard to get off with that attached.
