Default Camera Suggestion

So I have done too much reseach on this topic....... have read lot of posts on the Forum too.

Please make a suggestion on an all around camera.

Going to Spring Mt next month. Would like to record the event. Yea a GoPro seems like the way to go...........

BUT when I get my car out of the Ohio winter I want to "permanetly" mount a loop camera in my car.

I'm thinking the Go Pro would not work because it is too visible and would get stolen and I'm not sold on it's ability to record at night.

The Blackvue seems to be a good around town alternative but not sue that will work too well at the track....... but maybe so?

I'm not looking for a lot of statistics on the track...... so Apps interfaces etc are not important.

For the street I do like the GPS features..... the looping process.... and that the camera can be hidden behind the mirror. Other issue with Blackvue is it looks like there is little customer support. Korean roots......buy it see ya its yours.......

What do you think?

tks

The Replay 1080XD might be worth a look. You modify a text file on the memory card to adjust some of the advanced settings. Things like exposure settings, microphone gain, record when it gets power, etc can be adjusted by modifying the file. You can check out some of these features here:

It has a nice form factor but doesn't have any GPS capability. I'm not sure about its night capabilities. I was told at PRI that they are coming out with one this spring which will do 1080 @ 60 frames a second. Right now they have 1080 @ 30 or 720 @ 60.

Contour makes a pretty good camera. It's a bullet camera. I've used it with some good success in my race car.

You can download a free utility to turn sound on or off, loop video, flip video, and more. The utility is only available for the #16 as far as I know. Doesn't work with the other models.

You can get them with a 70* lens or a 120*.

Here is a wide angle version with a 32 gig sd card for $70. Doesn't have the little usb lighter plug but those are cheap and readily available. You can email the seller and ask them to throw one in for a few bucks.

I run one every day in loop mode.
