As many know, the iconic Oak Tree at VIR fell on July 2, 2013. Now you can own a piece of history – a medallion made from the actual branches from the fallen tree.

I don’t know if they’re all the same size, but the one I purchased is about two inches in diameter. It is laser engraved with an image of the tree, and is surrounded with VIRginia International Raceway and July 2, 2013. There is a small hole near the top for use as a keychain.

I stained mine with natural color and put several coats of glossy poly on both sides.

Get yours at the gift shop next time you’re at the track. They did not have them on display - I had to ask about them. Cost is ten dollars.

A friend bought me one of those, they're very cool. Good idea about staining and coating it, should help the wood stay together longer.
