Default After 8 laps, stock tires look like crap

2014 Z-51 A6, w/ 3900 miles

I just did PBIR on stock tires and I am wondering if all the scrubbed in surface (the whole tread)of the tires will ever get back to normal?

This is my very 1st time at a track with my own car. Looking back, I should have had a dedicated set of wheels/tires.

I'm afraid that's the way it is. Here's mine after one event.

Just regard it as a badge of honor.

As they wear they will look more normal. The edge of the tires might keep looking a bit beaten up.

Looks just like all four of mine..... that sucks. Oh well. they will probably last another seven thousand miles which is fortunate for me

I think they sound a little noisier too.....

What you are probably seeing is mostly the soft rubber you have picked up from the race tires. As you slow and come of the track it tends to collect on your warm tires.

Post a picture.

Oh, I thought you were road racing the car. Your situation is much different. You are not going to collect the pounds of marbles on your tires that I thought you were talking about.

That's the way the street tires will look after a few sessions, not much you can do about it. They will smooth out some and look better with miles but it takes some time.

I buy SCRUBBED Slicks from Forum Vendor "GT RAcing Tires" for $50ea (in my case) to $200ea. They go on a spare set of track wheels and my $50 slicks have so far lasted 4 years of two or three track days (at MSR Cresson) per year.

I corded my left front (Goodyear G2 ROF) after two days at PBIR.
Will be at Homestead next month with new RE-11s. Hoping Homestead is a little easier on tires.
