Default Visor fogging solution

Curious what you guys have found works best? I've read about Cat Crap and Jaws antifog, but haven't used them. What is best to prevent fogging?

Not having a visor...

You're inside a closed vehicle...why do you need a visor?

Because you drive with the windows open. If you ever get any of that dust in your eyes from the oil absorber that they lay down on the track when someone spills you are going to wish you had your visor and it was down

Dishwashing liquid. Smear it on in the thinnest, thinnest possible layer. It should be just hazy. Then breathe on it and it will go completely clear.

This works well until you get to the point where there are droplets of condensation on the surface - they're hard to see through and they wash the detergent off.

Also works on eyeglasses and windshields. It is far better than rainx or fogx.

This was my cure for my motorcycle helmet visors as well as my various, early, air-cooled Volkswagens. Always worked great.

When? Wheel to Wheel or just track days?

If you're driving with your windows open on track days you're a fool...the turbulence inside the car will slow you down. GM spent A LOT of time in a wind tunnel to make the car slick...leaving the windows down throws ALL of that away.

I found that a pair of racing goggles works better than a visor. Your breath doesn't fog them up. I run an open-face Simpson helmet...so they are easy to put on.

Having the windows down CLEARLY slows down the C6.R and C7.R. As well as NASCAR, Trans Am, World challenge, and every racing other series I can think of....

Having a visor is still a good idea in a closed in car. Bolts, stones and other things get thrown in the windows by other cars. If you have a visor covering your face you stand a lot better chance of not getting hurt.

Some groups require both windows down others just require the drivers window be down unless there is a passenger then both have to be down. Makes for miserable driving when the temps are in the 30s or its pouring rain.

I had a piece of clag/opr come in the window & hit me in the sun glasses once that had to weigh more than a qtr lb wheel weight, actually suppose it were a single qtr lb wheel wgt, bit&% was BIG, you want that hitting your face over 100 mph, didn't think so.

Went out next week & bought full face helmet.

Oh yeah...top speed runs are ALWAYS done with windows down.

Even GM runs with windows up at the 'Ring.

Name a major road racing series where they race with windows up.

That's awesome. But I don't race in those series. The tracks I race on and NASA require windows be down, which is what prompted the original question. I'll tell them they are fools.

I understand, and I'm sure it has more to do with their fear of glass shattering and injuring occupants than anything else. Add to that the safety issues with glass on the track and tires being punctured and I understand their concern.

What Zoxxo posted is correct...and in those series the requirement is the side windows be a polycarbonate material, so if they have an accident there isn't glass everywhere. They mandated A/C in the GT cars a few years ago for driver safety/comfort...so running with open windows would effectively negate the benefits associated with that change in the rules.

It would be nice if the different series would be on the same page...but that would be like herding cats.
