Default Fresh radials vs R compounds that have "fallen off"

Been reading a lot about R compounds falling off when they have done too many heat cycles. When an r compound falls off, would it handle better, worse, or the same as say a fresh street tire like an NT05, Michelin Pilot Sport, Etc ?

I have switched from high heat cycle tires to my street nitto invo's and have gone 2 seconds faster.

a well cycled Hoosier A6 (50 runs 2 drivers car with constant water spraying to cool it down) felt "normal" until we replace them with a fresh set.
To be honest, I think a set of heat cycled R-comp is properly still faster than let say RS3 or RE11.

I used to run Nitto NT555 RII's all the time. Even when they "fall off" they are still quite a bit quicker than a street tire. They just won't get you those extra hot laps that you could run.

My used Continental GT-I slicks do the same thing. I typically run two weekends with them. The first day of the first weekend they are the stickiest. After that they are still grip great but don't offer that "extra" grip that the day before did. By the 4th day I am noticing that don't have as much grip but are still leaps faster than a street tire.

for track day (NOT autocross) I run 4 year old "scrub" slicks. They have zero traction when cold, but when warmed up (hot) they provide significantly more traction than new NT-05 street tires. However, the reason I run them is NOT to go faster, it is to enable me to run track sessions relatively cheaply without tearing up expensive street tires. I only paid $50/tire for the slicks from Forum vendor GT racing tires.

Do you drive to the track on them?

Kind of apples to oranges here, but I ran a 2:06.7 in my Z06 on NT05s (20ish cycles) and a 2:07.3 on near corded RA1s in my 93 Camaro CMC race car (same track, 2 months apart), so about the same weight but down 100hp. Z06 has dick for mods. Take that for what it's worth.

Same here. I run the scrubs until I see cords and then go get some more. (Ok, I do it to go faster too.)

Well they're both fruit, so I'll take it.

Should've said apples to dogshit.
