Default Anyone ever use Nitto NT555RII tires?

It appears that my favorite tire, Nitto NT-01s are on back order through the spring. I was having good success with 305/35R18 on the rear.

One option would be to run a NT555RII in a 305/35R18 for the rear, anyone have experience with them?

Another option is the Toyo R888.

NT - 05 would be a closer match, yes? I just got delivery of a pair from discount direct.

Different size.

I've been running these square, 285/35-18 on 10.5" Z06 Speedlines. Very happy with the performance for a conservative track tire. I believe they share the same compound as the NT01's

Oh I get it now, 100tw, the nt05 are 200tw, I got tricked by the tread pattern. Also shorter tread than the nt05.

Good choice.

I tried two sets of the 555s and I've found the 888s to be far more predictable with a more controllable release, especially in high speed corners, than the 555s.

there is a huge difference between the 555's and the 555RII's

I ran 888's and they do not stick as well as 555RII but 888"s do stick better than 555's

confused yet? lol

FYI 555's would be comparable to NT-05's

The 555RII is a great tire. I ran them for quite a number of track days before finally switching to slicks. I found them very predictable.

Agree.

They are also very good on the street.

555 RIIs are an excellent tire and last a long time. I wish they made them in more sizes.

I used to run 555r2's on my 1999 SS Camaro years ago for track days. Heavy car, sloppy suspension, wasn't the driver I am today, and they were great. Sticky and still last. I never shaved them and they never came apart or chunked. Drove to and from on them. The r2 is basically the nitto NT555 drag radial with stiffer sidewalls. Its a good tire for track days.

I was using shorthand, it was the 555RIIs that I ran. They stick just fine, but they are twitchy on high speed corners. I've found 888s run with elevated pressures to be one of the most predictable tires I've ever run, including my Hoosiers.

Agree with the many others above-- I used the 555rIIs on my C5z06 with great luck on track and street. Great compromise tire.

I'm in the market for a new set of tires and these Nitto 555rIIs are intriguing me. How many HDPE weekends are you seeing out of the tires? I'm assuming everyone running the C5Z square wheels is using the 305/35/18 size?
