Default Autox on Square 285/18 Z2's?

In this thread

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...-rivals-7.html

the Rival sounds like it isn't quite the right tire on a C5Z.

Has anybody tried running the current Z2 square 285/18's? Would it work better than a 275/18 (f) and 295/18 (r) Rival config?

In my case, either setup would not be daily driven.

I bet it would be pretty good since it is such a short tire at 24.8" tall. The 295 Rival is 26.1" tall giving you a very different ride height and effective gear ratio. It's like going from a 3.42 to a 3.60.

That's the setup I'm running. I'm still setting the chassis up, but so far so good. I'm running the 285 Z2s all on Z06 rears. I have run it with the stock alignment and the only suspension change being a T1 front bar. I think this may be a decent simple road course setup, but not loose enough for autocross.

I'm in the middle of installing a camber kit and VB&P 1100/800 lb/in springs. I'll have it aligned and corner balanced after that. Then I will play with swaybars some more after that. I'm thinking T1 bars may be too monstrous, but testing will tell.

Would this be for A Street? The Z2s can handle some pinching since they have stiffer sidewalls than a lot of other street tires, so I'd say it's worth a shot. I'm targeting 285 Z2s all around on 18x10.5 or 18x11 wheels for the STU C5, due to the gearing and I like how Z2s feel. Make sure you bring a water sprayer, they don't like to get hot!

AS, yes. Fronts would be 18x9.5 though. May just go with the 255/17 for front this year and see what the v2 zii and kook are like.
