Default Wilwood W6A or SL6 for 1/2 & 1 mile airstrip events?

Currently I have base model brakes on my 2011 C6. I want something a bit better for stopping at the end of a 1/2 mile or 1 mile run. Looking at LG's website they have the G-Stop kit that puts the SL6 caliper on over my stock base model brake rotor or the W6A, which is for the larger Z51 rotors. I'm not sure which I should go with. It looks like the SL6 uses a thicker pad. The rotors for the base brakes are super cheap too, which is another plus.

SL6 works for me in road racing with cheap rotors: shrug:

What are you willing to spend?

If you have a budget of $3k, I would look at the AP kit from Essex.

Ummmm,,, stock with some better pads.

For years we road raced with stock C5Z06 calipers and upgraded pads. Regularly stopping from 150+mph over the course of 45 minutes. In a much shorter stopping distance than what you will do in a straight line run.

There's no room for logic in this post.

The OP wants to burn some dolla's.

I drive down in "Mexico" quite a bit as well. With Stoptech pads, stainless braided lines, and Motul RBF600, I currently get mushy pedal and my rotors are heat spotted all to hell. I was looking for a more rigid front caliper and better pads. Prefer not to spend more than $2k doing this. My forged motor build is just finishing up and that took quite a chunk out of the car fund.

The W6A caliper kit front and FNSL4 caliper kit in the rear- both on stock rotors will offer you all the braking force you'll need, all day long. And bump up the responsiveness and feel. As well as the bling.

Run your choice of 14" front rotors (not possible with the SL6 stuff) and the 13.4" Z06 rears. Wrap it all up with some fluid and ss hoses. Done. And for a very attractive price point.

Hahaha.

On topic I have the W6A's up front running on C6 rotor and I love the setup. I have thrown a bit of abuse to them and finally stepped up to race pads, it's a great way to go, can't wait to add the FNSL4 calipers to the deal.

Replacement cost on rotors and a lot of options on rotors is what attracted me to this setup anything that fits a C6 or C6Z you can run.
