Briggs BAC Mono is an F1 car for the road
Watch this bonkers skeleton car show off its 520 hp per ton
The BAC Mono from Briggs Automotive Company is one of the wildest -- we’ll say cars -- that’s legal to drive on the roads today. The single-seater barely has any bodywork and is made from ultra-lightweight carbon fiber and foam.
Tipping the scales at just 1,190 pounds, the Mono delivers 280 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque from a naturally aspirated 2.3-liter four. Sound like fun? It looks like it, too -- XCar took the Mono for a ride in its latest YouTube video.
If you're interested, this F1 car for the road will cost you $162,980, converted from British pounds. It comes standard with adjustable racing shocks, a five- or six-point harness and a fire extinguisher. You might think that the minimalism of the Mono extends to the option sheet, but you’d be wrong. We spec’d the car out with every upgrade, including the additional set of “option” tires, race suit and a made-to-measure seat. Our build came out to a whopping $242,599.
Since we probably won’t be dropping that kind of coin anytime soon, we’ll just enjoy the XCar review -- we suggest you do the same.

Melting Slicks
Yea, they've been around for a while...........but they haven't delivered any as far as I know.
They had one at the Concorso Italiano at the Monterey Sportscar Reunion. I talked to the Sector 111 guys about the one my buddy has on order (he was one of the first to order one). That was in August and they said the delivery was pushed out to September.
He's still waiting.

Safety Car
Isn't this the one they tried to test on Top Gear 3 times...I think the first time it broke ..the second time it went up in flames...the third one Clarkson loved

Love the mono, along with all those other "road" cars designed solely for having fun - just wish there were some that would be a little more affordable
thats the caparo T1
also an insane car
also an insane car

Not certain of the nature of the problems but Clarkson mentions in the video posted above of problems with the car and they were unable to test it. Over the past year they fixed the issues.

Also anyone into chassis design needs to look at this bare chassis. It's a work of art and is supposed to give massive stiffness and protection!

Sector 111 in California is the exclusive US importer - in case anyone is interested:

Thank you for your interest in the BAC Mono.
The Mono is truly an exclusive supercar with performance and styling that is
stunning. It delivers a driving experience that is much more like a 4 wheel
superbike than a normal sportscar. At 1190lbs, it is one of the lightest
cars on the planet. 0-60mph comes in 2.8sec!!! For half the money of a
supercar, you get Formula3 levels of performance. The British press are
giving this car top marks and journalists like Jeremy Clarkson are simply in
love with it. The Stig has named it his car of year for 2011!
My company, Sector111 is the exclusive US importer of the Mono. Cars start
at $200k. Leadtime is approx. 9-12 months at this point. We are requesting
a $50k deposit to hold your position. I can help you choose the best options
for your needs. The cars are assembled here in CA. We are selling this car
as track use only but your state requirements may allow street registration.
You can find pictures and videos of the Mono here:
http://www.sector111.com/cars/bac-mono/
You will fit in the Mono with the new seat option. What is your waist size?
We only allow clients who have a deposit to test drive the car. We conduct
the demos at Spring Mountain at our race shop. We may have a school later
on - once the single make race series is launched.
Please don't hesitate to call me directly with any questions you may have.
Best regards,
Shinoo Mapleton
