Default Ignition wire heat protection question

Need some boots that will slide over the COIL end rubber boot. I don't want to pry the boot off & try and slide it back on.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

You could take regular size ones (
Amazon.com: Red Spark Plug Protect Boots Heat Shield Thermal Protection Insulator 8cyl: Automotive Amazon.com: Red Spark Plug Protect Boots Heat Shield Thermal Protection Insulator 8cyl: Automotive
for a 1/3 of the price of the LG) and cut the ring.
You don't have the original metal shield? Aftermarket headers?

Slide - roll the rings out. Just feel for the split, expand them a bit and they roll right out.

I bought those but even the end without the ring is too small.

I do have the metal shields no headers, the wires fail right where the wire meets the boot top which is exposed not under the metal shield.

I saw some insulation on a reel, buy the reel and I think I could do 4 cars, but you would have to cut the "tube" open to slip it on & then zip tie it closed, not sure zip tie would last or melt & I know they have metal zip ties but that makes the price go up again. Maybe safety wire them on.

I try to save money everywhere so I can but those gumball a6's that last 100 laps.

Try heat shield tape!! that is available at Auto Zone. You can cut any length you want. If it won't stay stuck together? use safety wire to hold it together. Just my .02 JD

One possible issue with the tape is that it will be in direct contact with the wire and will probably transmit a lot of the heat to the wire. With the boots you get at least some space between the boot and the wire to dissipate some heat.

Found some for $42 on Amazon specific for the LS big boots, I think I just ordered the wrong ones first time.
