Default C5Z Clutch: SCCA Stock Street Legal

So have the trans out and fixing some damage caused by the previous owner.

Clutch has some hot spots, so thinking of replacing it as well while we are in there. The shop doing the work is quoting LUk or Valeo. Both
stock LS6 clutches with flywheels.

I don't want to go LS7 clutch as searching here says it is heavier which is not good as redline approaches.

What are recommended clutches that are stock street class legal for SCCA?

Search is returning a bunch of mixed feelings and a lot are more focused on drag racing.

So far as I know, for scca stock legal, you are stuck with whatever was original in the car, what that was I don't know, replace the slave too.

FWIW I have 55k on my stock 2004 z06 clutch & it's still ok. I do not abuse it.

check the rules before you buy, last thing you want is a clutch that won't pass

the ls7 is OEM, the question would be on if they allow it. scoggin dickey sells an ls7 kit with the ram aluminum flywheel for under 600 complete with bolts, BUT, now you have an aftermarket flywheel on there too. the weight is the same as the ls6 this way

then again, unless you're at nationals or some ultra competitive league no one is really going to know to be honest. the ls7 & ram isn't ethically cheating in my mind, same weight, just no stuck clutch at stock hp levels

If there's no advantage to doing this then why bother?

IMO, go to the GM dealer and buy the correct OE parts and then you don't have to worry.

+1. If you are talking autocross Stock (and Street) classes, then this is DEFINITELY what you have to do.

Thanks all. Went and looked at it today. Had some hot spots on the flywheel is all (below). Not me, I prefer to burn tires, not clutches. Some say the former is cheaper...not so sure about that. lol

Since the car is wide open I will likely replace it, just so I don't have to go in there again anytime soon. Going to go with the LUk which comes with clutch and flywheel.
