so what do you have for me for autocrossing? i dont drive much on the street except to the events( cant wait for someone to make a trailer hitch for the c7) dont like driving on a6's on the street. im sure their will be a hitch( at one time their was no hitch for c5, c6 ) now their is. also how to you feel about 315/30/18's on a 9.5 wide wheel? i seen this with my own two eyes and it worked very well on the front of two c6's. back in my c4 days i use to only use 11 inch wide for the 315/35/17's front and back. im asking because my 2002 z06 wheels 17's front and 18's back fit my c7 non-z51 fine and im running the 295/35/17 a6's up front, now im thinking i can go with the 315/35/17 on those 17x9.5 wheels , what do you think about that? thanks

Well 50 mile each way not too bad. I am ok with tire sizes bigger than rim IF you have stiff sidewall tires not too tall, but it's not "ideal".

If you have rubber bushings you need a smidge more because you lose some of your static setting when you are "dynamic".

Best is to learn to read the tire wear & maybe take hot tire pressures across tread and adjust alignment from there.

I use to run 315 on a 9.5 rim. 335 on a 10.5. Hoosiers A6's. I would do it again.

lets get back to the 10.5 wide wheel, if you look at tirerack's numbers for the hoosiers a6's and r6's it shows that the 335/30/18 needs at least a 12 inch wide wheel, it also shows that the 345/35/18 only needs a 11 inch wheel, i called and was told that the taller and wider 345/35 fits on less rim than the 335/30. that being said what would you do? 335 or 345? on 10.5 wheel

Definately not entertainment for the ladies.

But for those of us who actually work on cars, I hope, occasionally interesting.

For my C5 Z06 the 345 wouldn't fit the car. It's also much taller then the 335/30/18. How is the car balanced? The Corvette I'm running now, wouldn't benefit go wider in the back. It would just cause understeer. These tires don't last very long, so you could alway buy the other size next.

let me tell you how right you are!, because of z51 constraints on my c7 vert, my first two x-crosses before i put on z51 shocks and z51 swaybars( there was no rear bar at all! ) the rear tires rubbed the outside rear quarters on top in hard turns, i did not feel it but i will be at body shop at end of season. live and learn, shocks and bars fixed it but i dont want to bring the rear tire any closer to quarter than i have too. i was not thinking on much taller the 345/35 is over the 335/30. thanks again.
