18 x 10.5 speedlines with 315 hoosier R6
Hi
Is it ok to run this combo square all round?
I know that hoosier recommend 11" but have also heard many run this combo?
Your experience would be appreciated
Many thanks!

It will work fine. Many have done it for years.
The only thing you may come across is the front wheels rubbing brake cooling ducts on sharp corners (one complete turn of the steering wheel or so), mostly in the paddock.

I used to use those all the time with 305 or 315 tires. It works great.

That's good to hear. I have a set of these rims with worn out R888s I'm trying to figure out what to do with. Will probably do 285/305 Conti scrubs but I didn't think 305 would fit on this rim. Thanks!

I am going to offer a contrary opinion. Running the 315's I could not get full tread contact even with low tire pressures. There was always about 1/4 - 1/2" of tread on each side of the tire that did not make full contact. The narrow rim dimension compared to recommended caused the tire to bow. Running the 305's and adjusting pressure appropriately, I could get full contact all the way across the tread. With the 315's I had contact with my brake cooling ducts - the 305's no problem.

A wider rim is more appropriate, especially for the 315s, but they still work great. I would rather run a Hoosier 315 for fast lap times than anything else in a 305 or 295.

I thought I remember being told the 315 Hoosier was the same tire as the 305, just re-labeled.

A 315 section tire is build for a 11.5 inch wide rim. A minimum rim width would be 11.0 inches.

That is all nice in the spec book, but a 315 on a 10.5 in rim is still faster than a smaller tire on the rim. These things were figured out during an era where rim widths were limited, but the 315 tire was still allowed. While 10.5" might not be ideal, you will still get better results than running the narrower tire.
