Default Considering a new track car

I'm considering a new track car. Trying to get back into it. At least 10 days per year.

C4's & C5's the parts are just not there any more.

The C6 seems like a viable option. I'd start off with a Z06. I understand the brakes would need a major upgrade. What else ?

It would be a daily driver, and weekend track car. So no mods except seats ....

What parts aren't available for C5s?

This. The only thing that is tough to get that I know of is the EBCM for pre-'01 cars. Everything else is readily available, and many parts will swap with the C6.

Don't forget to get the heads checked on the LS7 or you might as well just get them done, since that's cheap insurance. Get your dry sump upgraded and oil pan as well....stock brakes are fine, just upgrade the brake pads.

Larry, the major issue with the C5 is the EBCM C1214. You could go with a C5Z like the one I used to have, update the brakes with a Wilwood W6A/W4A setup, add a Ron Davis Racing Radiator with built in EOC and trans/diff coolers and have a pretty reliable car that would cost less to run than a C6Z.

Go with a Sharkbar and Road Race seats mounted on Hardbar or other mounts.

But, just to lend some perspective, the 1214 code is hardly a major issue as you can either do a DIY fix (do a search) or have it repaired (even pre-emptively) for ~$50 or so.
The issues with the pre-01 ABS modules are much more serious in, terms of dollars, to fix.

FYI, Wilwood is switching over to the Aero6 and Aero4 calipers in place of the "W" line.

Hardbar is non-existent so use the MTI mounts.

Also at least swap the bushings to poly.
