Nitto NT555RII vs Nitto NT555R
I need new tires. I've been running NT555RII in sizes of 275/40/17 up front and 305/35/18 in the back. Nitto doesn't make the 17 in. tire in NT555RII any more. I just got off the phone with the tire shop, and they have the NT555RII for the back but wanted to sell me the NT555R for the fronts which Nitto makes in available sizes.
I am running a A&A superchaged C5 with approx 600 rwhp, and I do aggressive canyon carving. Is this a good idea to go with the NT555Rs on the front?

A drag radial is great for straight line performance, but what about lateral acceleration?

However, it looks like Discount tire Direct offers free shipping. At this point I'm debating NT05s, Toyo R888, and NT01s. I might even do something like NT05s up front, and NT555RII on the back.
Problem is NT05 (275/40/17) are on back order with Discout Tires direct.

Be very careful mixing compounds. Very few people do it, and for good reason. As the tires warm up, you can go from understeer to oversteer and back to understeer very quickly.

Thank for the advice, I will take it seriously! Consider that idea nixed.

Well you say that, but I seem to recall back in June some CMC racer staggering RA1 on the inside and RR on the outside. I think the guy cut and/or corded a tire. I wasn't his plan A, but he didn't complain of as lopsided a car as I thought he would have experienced. Wasn't me, but I'll say I'm less scared to try something so ghetto in the future.
