Default [Video] Santa Clara Corvette Autox

Had a fun, fast, HOT day at Crows Landing on a course requiring lots of shifting and challenging lines. Here's my fastest, a 1:16.704, in the 3rd RG. If you live within 150 miles you should have been here.

Your run looked great! What tires are you running?

Thanks.

I'm on a set of Kumho 710s that I got new and cheap ($100 ea.) due to the date -- 0408 -- 305x30x18 and 335x35x17.

I ran Kumho's at my last two events and will not run them again even if they were free. Just not worth the aggravation. I don't know if you've been on Hoosiers A6's, but worth every penny.

I thought a 6 cone slalom was long. Was it any fun?

I wouldn't have called it fun. Was more a pain in the *** with the wide hips of the c6 z06. Its pretty bad when GS Focus and Fiestas were just as fast if not faster. It also doesn't help when the course designer drives one of those said Fiestas.

It was work. I did find myself getting faster with each pass learning how much the tires would take and getting smoother. It's a skill to be learned but not quite fun.

Personally, I see more real value in running slaloms at higher speed which equates better to street situations than turns at 30-50. The long sweeper on Saturday felt a lot like turn 9 at Laguna Seca at a comparable speed. That was fun.
