I use the DBA/KNS 2 piece (hat is thicker than OEM rotor but still use OEM studs so not too much) and my kit has the older billet SL6 which is by drawing a bit wider. W/ C5Z speedline rears it's very close and did barely scrape a bit after the NCM event but it clears. The 17" clear fine.

Default Light Braking

When I first started tracking about 12 years ago, I also went through brakes and rotors very fast. After talking with an experienced racer from the Can Am days, he advised me that you can't have a fast lap with your foot on the brake.
Concentrate on braking lighter each lap carrying more speed through the turn. If you late brake all the time you tend to scrub off more speed than necessary and create excessive wear on pads and rotors.
Unless you are actually racing rather than tracking your car late braking has no advantage.
